ST. IGNACE, Mich. (AP) — Upper Peninsula authorities have asked the public for help in looking into the 1994 disappearance of a pregnant girl whose remains were found more than a year later in Hiawatha National Forest.

Marvel Anderson was 16 years old and five months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, and she was last seen alive May 2, 1994, The Evening News of Sault Ste. Marie and The Mining Journal of Marquette reported.
"We are looking at this case again from the beginning," said Mackinac County Prosecutor Fred Feleppa.
Authorities initially suspected the high school sophomore was a runaway, believing she may have headed to Texas to stay with a friend. Bear hunters found her remains Sept. 3, 1995 about 10 miles north of St. Ignace.
"We have already investigated many tips in this case, but we are still looking for the missing piece of information that will break everything open," Feleppa said.
Authorities have investigated the case as a homicide, but no arrests have been made. Now, the Upper Peninsula Cold Case Team is taking a look at the case and has made a fresh appeal for help.
Lt. David Hopper of the Michigan State Police post in St. Ignace said the tip line has already started to bring in some responses.
"This is a case that we believe can be solved," Hopper said. "We revived this case because it seems to have enough evidence and enough leads for it to be solved."
