Reward offered in Kildeer man's death

March 21, 2008
NEWS-SUN STAFF REPORT
The FBI is asking for the public's help in solving a more than decade-old homicide.

The agency is asking for any information in the 1997 disappearance and apparent murder of Robert Charles Cruz. Cruz, then 50, was last seen at his Kildeer home on Dec. 4, 1997. Last March, a construction crew in unincorporated DuPage County discovered Cruz's body while digging. He was wrapped in carpet and had two bullet wounds in his head.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

According to the FBI, the site where Cruz was found was just yards from an area known as a "mob burial ground." Police say Cruz had a lengthy criminal and mob history.
Anyone with information on his disappearance and death is asked to call the FBI's Chicago office at (312) 421-6700.
