I hit Sho-Dan (black belt) in August last year.
hardest grading of my life!!!!
point i wan2 put across tho is that there is no such thing as a grading thats 'too hard' cos if you still get ur grade at the end of it, you can go toe to toe with any other of the same grade in the country.
any1 know Rob Galbraith(?) ? he was my teacher in WBK for a couple of years, but i found the gradings were quite simply turn up on the day and its been the same with many other clubs iv visited.
im lucky to have found the club im with now.
very hard and subsequently i dont have a fear of anyone, only a respect.
i think thats a fundamental problem with Martial Arts outside of their home country, there is a lack of interest and effort.
tis true you get out of it what you put in.
make it a way of life, and it could save yours one day.

Interesting comment. Are you with one of our wbk instructors now. Also im afraid Rob Galbraith is a bad name to mention on this forum as he nearly destroyed a lot of clubs with his careless talk. He has aupset a lot of clubs over the time and unfortunetly will not be welcomed back.

Hi.
You all know me. I'm second degree Black/Yellow sash.
None of you have let us know how hard, or easy, you thought your gradings were. I think you're worried that if you found them easy you'd be expected to work harder, and YOU'D BE RIGHT
Greatest respect to you all. Your gradings so far have been harder than mine. The higher you go, the harder it gets. You are lucky to have been guided through the ranks in this way, because when you get to our dizzy heights, you will have the knowlege to help you through. If you had it easy up to black sash, second degree would be really hard. Believe me, I've been there.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK lads, it makes it a pleasure teaching you.

Ricky speaks wise words.
You may look around other clubs etc and see that gradings are done for very little effort. But never get upset over this as you must remember if you and them where to stand in front of 1000 students to teach them kung fu who would be the most confident and most experienced and most respected. I will let you decide.
We aim to nto just build individuals who can look after themselves but we also aim to build peoples management skills and confidence skills to give them a good life. I hope that in the distance future, when your instructors have long gone that you keep the art and tradition going as we have battled to do at the present time.
I made a promise to keep the tradition alive 4 years ago to a senior instructor so stick with it all.
