Scene One: ~The truth about Lisa Moretti~
Lisa Moretti is sitting in a studio by herself looking thoroughly bored. She puffs her cheeks and is twiddling with her hair as she tries to take her mind away from boredom. She begins skimming through some notes which she has probably already read two or three times by now.
A minute or so passes before Danny Szatkowski walks in. Immediately Lisa jumps up and scowls at him, shaking her finger in his face.
Lisa: Hey you! You are exactly two minutes and thirty eight seconds late! What do you have to say for yourself?!
Danny is taken back by her aggression. He doesn’t feel he deserves it, but he is late. Slightly. He decides to take the “I’m sorry” approach. Any rational argument would most likely not go down too well with Lisa, what with the way she has been acting lately.
Danny: I’m sorry. I was… erm… helping a disabled little girl cross the road! Yeah, that’s it.
Lisa: Oh really?! And what was she doing out all by herself?! Hmm?!
Danny realizes that she’s onto him. As last week, he comes to the conclusion that if Lisa is going to act weird around him all the time, then he doesn’t care about what she thinks of him. He just shrugs his shoulders and responds apathetically.
Danny: She was buying some sweets. Disabled kids like sweets too you know. Anyway, are we going to do this interview or what?
Danny throws his duffle bag to the floor and places his hands on his hips as he looks to Lisa for a response. She seems despondent for a moment or two, until...
Lisa: Okay, I forgive you!
Lisa jumps up and gives Danny a big kiss on the cheek. Danny seems confused to say the least, but Lisa takes no notice. She takes a seat and begins shuffling through her notes again. Danny cautiously takes a seat opposite her, awaiting some kind of GWE-related question.
Lisa: Now on with the interview! First question… ahem… do you have a girlfriend?
Danny looks more than a little disconcerted. Why does she even care if he has a girlfriend? She’s a married woman. A happily married woman! Danny decides not to ask questions and just answers her.
Danny: No…
Lisa: Are you more of a breast or a legs man?
Danny: Legs – Hey! Why are you asking me all these personal questions! This is supposed to be about Adrian Hood and the Suicidal Title!
Lisa looks at Danny as though he is some kind of freak.
Lisa: Geez! Fine, I shall proceed with that specific line of questioning. Bor-ring! By the way, I shaved my legs this morning! Did you notice?
Lisa stands up and gives Danny a twirl, causing her dress to kick up and show a little more leg. They look good. Very good in fact. But that is beside the point! Danny finally loses his patience and confronts her.
Danny: Lisa, what is up with you?! You keep asking me all these questions as though you have a teenage crush on me or something! You’re married!
Lisa: Crush?! I don’t have a crush on you! It’s just that… Hmm… you remind me of what I was like at your age; young, good looking, full of energy, nothing to hold me back… It takes me back to a time when life was so much easier! Now I have bills to pay, a baby to feed, a husband to care for… Plus I have to interview wrestlers. That ain’t no picnic, I tell thee!
Lisa has stopped the act and all of her anxieties are now clear to see. Danny starts to feel sorry for her. All Lisa wanted was a little escapism from her demanding life. Danny also feels a little flattened that she’d open up to him of all people.
Danny: I guess I can understand that. Tell you what, Lisa. If things are tough for you, you can hang out with me anytime. You’re a little too crazy at times, but it’s all good.
Lisa: Yay! You’re my hero, Tripod Man!
She turns and falls backward into Danny’s arms. She closes her eyes and smiles to herself, while Danny immediately begins to regret his words. He tries to think of a way to get away from this woman who acts so crazy around him. Yes he feels sorry for her, but it still feels wrong to him to be holding a married woman in his arms…
Danny: Do you hear that?! I hear a siren! Someone needs me, Lisa! Tripod Man… AWAY!
Danny sits Lisa down on a chair, grabs his duffle bag and runs off as fast as he can.
Lisa: Go get ‘em, Tripod Man!
Lisa frantically waves on after her ‘hero’, laughing at the ridiculous nature of his departure. There is still some sadness in her eyes, but she is wearing a smile of sorts as the camera fades.
Scene Two: ~Playing it safe with Mark~
We join Danny who is now sitting with Mark in the Milldale American Eagle trucker’s café, just off the interstate 84. Their sat in the corner, well away from all off the fat, greasy-haired and bearded trucker’s who are sat at the counter.
Danny: Thanks for meeting me down here, Mark. I know you’ve been busy running errands for Marcos lately, but I really needed to get this interview done and Lisa Moretti is creeping me out!
Mark: Yeah. I saw that last interview where she’s poured a drink all over you. That was pretty weird. You won’t catch me pulling a stunt like that!
Danny: Exactly. So now you’re here, I can get down to the small matter of a serious interview about Adrian Hood; an opponent that I’m taking very seriously…
A middle aged woman in an apron comes by with a tray and places a Danish pastry and a coffee in front of each of them. Danny smiles to acknowledge her service as Mark continues.
Mark: So let’s recap… Things started out with Hood coming out and watching your title defence against Mike Roman.
Danny: That’s right. As you know, in Suicidal title matches there are no rule. So Adrian could have made his presence felt if he wanted to. But he decided to hold back and show a little respect. You see, Adrian is feeling like he needs to earn everyone’s respect since he lost the TV title to Brandon Landis. And if you give a little, you get a little. Hood is a smart guy, that’s for sure.
Mark: Right. And then you pulled up a chair to ringside last week to watch his match against Mike Smith.
Danny: Correct. Hood did his homework on me and I didn’t want to get caught out when we finally faced off. I let him do his thing and I learned all I needed to know. It was an impressive win against a former two-time TV champion…
Mark: So you were pretty even at this point, but then he called you out during last week’s main event.
Danny: Yeah, he called me out. Nine out of ten people in the GWE would have just ran to the ring and started their assault, but Hood wanted to go at it, face-to-face. Like I said, Hood is after respect. He wanted me to be ready before he took the fight to me. You’ve got to respect that. We’ve been on a collision course for a few weeks now and that brawl last week a taster of what’s to come. Hood showed me last week that he has a lot of fight in him and I know that I’ll be in for the fight of my life at Elite.
Mark: Are you confident about the match?
Danny: Hmm… you’re really asking two question there, and the answers are yes and no. Am I confident that I’m going to win? Well, not really. I consider Hood to be my equal. He can bring the fight, but I sure can too. On the night it really could go either way, so I’m going to have to make sure that I’m on top of my game. But one thing I am confident of is that this match is going to steal the show!
Mark: That’s quite a statement when you consider that Steve Mathias vs Marcos Perez and Kacy Knight vs CJ Osborne are also on the card…
Mark is so engrossed in the story that he fails to realize that he’s over-dunked his Danish in his coffee and it’s split in two. Danny silently laughs at him before he justifies his previous statement.
Danny: Yes, but with all due respect to those people, I felt the intensity of Adrian Hood last week. I now know first hand of the competitive spirit that he’s going to bring to the ring with him. And, well, I’ll be bringing everything I’ve got too! It’s like Hood said himself, he’s brought out the ‘wrestler’ in me. This is a match that I want to win. It’s like the first time I faced The X-Byte; I knew he was bringing something special to the ring and that I’d have to be my best to defeat him. I wasn’t that night and it only made me want it more. I will have to be at my competitive best to beat Adrian Hood, as will he to beat me. That is why this match is going to go down in history.
Mark: Woah, that was intense. I’m starting to see how fired up you and Hood are about this match now. And when you add to that a bunch of weapons, anything could happen!
Danny drinks up and Mark tries to do the same, but finds himself choking on the pastry that was lying in the bottom of his cup. It’s funny, but Danny ignores it due to the focus he’s putting onto his match. Mark clears his throat, thankfully.
Danny: Anything and everything will happen…
Mark: But there is one other thing. Caleb Carnage issued a statement towards you last week on Uprising. Do you think he will interfere in the match?
Danny: I hope not. I want to settle this thing with Adrian Hood. If he interferes… well… I don’t know what I will do. I’m just focusing on Adrian Hood.
Mark: Well, that about wraps things up. I’ll tell Lisa Moretti that I did your interview, and I’ll rub it in! Heh heh.
Danny: Be nice to her! She’s a nice lady. Just don’t, umm, tell her where I am!
Mark laughs as both men rise out of their seats. Danny leaves some change to cover the drinks and they heads off. The scene ends.
