Title: Day two

Susanne - April 29, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
I went walking again today. This was day two. We are having such nice weather most of this week that I want to take advantage of it. I have such a hard time getting myself to go but then I'm glad I did.

I am happy that I was able to do my entire walk, which is a mile and a half round trip. I'm pretty much in need of a rest and a large glass of water when I come back but I bounce back rather quickly so I guess I will keep at it.

I hate exercise

Susanne I admire you for starting to walk. It isn't an easy committment to make, but one that will reap rewards. Good for you! gdbV ^db^

Keep it up, good friend!! gdbV gdbV

I wasn't able to go today because I was at Liz's school, but I did a lot of walking there. Of course the function was at the other end of the campus than the parking lot  so I'm counting that as my walk

this is a very good thing, Susanne. I haven't been exercising for the last few weeks...as Aspen say: whip me with a wet noodle! I hate exercise , too. Good for you! gdbV

Good job on your walking!! Keep it up!! Did you make your wonderful fruit salad for the function? yum yum :D

Gwen - May 1, 2006 04:52 PM (GMT)
Good for you Susanne (0)

I have to tell you that I feel so much better when I exercise. It takes commitment but I think it's worth it for physical and mental health - that nasty stress that we feel at times.

Our golden retriever, who turned 10 April 14th, accompanies me on the walks. The vet and groomer always tell me what great shape she's in so we're both getting results

Kim, yes I did make the fruit salad. This was a good bye to graduating seniors and also founders day for the Theta Phi Alpha sorority so they have a little thing every year at this time.

Gwen, I think that's great that you take your doggie with you. I bet she really looks forward to it with you.

Since I counted yesterday's walk all over the dang campus and I just now got back from my walk, this was day four. I still hate it.

Hey all, haven't been here in a long while....it is really great to have all this exercise and diet info and support...cause I don't Do any exercise....!! Really really need to find a way to make it priority..always something better to do or more important.....
Susanne, have you ever tried using a pedometer? I think it would be interesting and informative to see how far I am actually going in a normal day...or on a day with alot of 'running around' as you did on the campus....I bet it was more than a mile and a half!!
Diane

Exercising does make me feel better. Just hard to get into a routine. Glad to see you posting, Diane!! (0) (grh)

Susanne - June 12, 2006 03:46 AM (GMT)
Dianne, it would be interesting to see, on any given day, just how many steps we take. And I say we count each and every last one of them as exercise  . Where would you get a pedometer, a sports store?

Yes, it is very nice to see you posting here.

I like that we have different topics going on on the two boards.

I need to be exercising! I was doing well for a while then I'm distracted and there it goes...I 'm out of the routine and seem not to get back to it!

I think walking is great for us and so are some weights and pilates...I am losing some weight because I am trying to eat a lot less...except yesterday, I pigged out!

Susanne - June 13, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
Well, there were these great cookies at the produce/deli place that we shop at and I couldn't stop eating them so I had to stop buying them and I was in there today and I bought some. It was a moment of weakness.

re: pedometers.....yes, I have seen them in sports stores.....I don't know about what would be a good brand or what an adequate one would run though......
D

Sometimes it make a big difference if you ahve eaten before you shop for food, especially cookies!

Dianne there is probably a lot of info on the internet...as far as brands and prices. That would certainly tell us how active we are in the course of our day. We do have steps into our dining/kitchen from the sunroom and I remember when I could hardly climb them...
