Title: Sad to hear...

NJO - March 7, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
Just heard that Dana Reeves died last night...how sad that she never smoked but died of lung cancer. I think of their son without both his parents. ^A^

And of a love so strong that death could not separate it for long. Christopher and Dana were very special people who taught the world a lesson. ^A^

It's so sad - I couldn't believe it. ^A^

She was such a lovely woman. Her son, who seemed as strong as his parents, will surely have a sad time. I think we're going to hear from him in the future.

She was doing so well and then went downhill very fast. It is very sad. ^A^

I watched a program with a close friend of hers who went with her to appts and was with her at the end. He said that when she sang at Mark Messiers retirement, they thought all was going well. She had an appt and I think a MRI within a few days after that engagement and the doctors told them the lung cancer had taken on another form and it was not looking good.

I have learned a lot in 2 days about lung cancer - leading killer - that doesn't get a lot of recognition because most of the patients die.

Cancer funding has been cut this year in the USA.

Did they ever know what caused her cancer? She didn't smoke...lung cancer is one that hasn't seemed to make as much progress toward a better survival rate. I lost a good friend to lung cancer when I was 9 yrs old and it was ugly then and it's sad that people are still dying after all these years.

No, but women appear to be more at risk than men.

Wow! This is very frightening...thanks for this link...we don't smoke and think we're okay...very scary, indeed.

Very scary. Thanks for the article, Gwen.

It was very sad about Dana Reeve. After all she had been through, too.

Gwen, who is your avatar?

Gwen - March 9, 2006 12:40 AM (GMT)
My avator is Dana Reeve. It's the latest pic I could find.

Oh, of course. Sorry I didn't realize it was her. It is a nice photo of her.

Have fun on your trip. Too bad you will be away just when Kim is in your neck of the woods again.

Do lots of this ^db^ gdbV in Hawaii, okay?

We hope to hear from back from the travel agent soon regarding Hawaii. We are trying to avoid spring breaks in Canada and the USA.

We had wanted to go somewhere for Jake's birthday which is on the 14th. Then a business meeting was planned in Montreal so that's how this little trip came into play. I will meet Kim one day - it's been ridiculous that I am away when she arrives BUT when we do meet, I know it will be great fun. gdbV

She's not going to be impressed with the weather  but I hope she will enjoy seeing all the trees and bulbs in bloom.
