Title: Some websites...
NJO - February 19, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
I just got onto one of those websites that try to make you set them as your homepage...you can't close it. I had to press the Ctrl, Alt, Delete and close it that way...I hate these things. I was looking for Osteopaths practicing in TN. Something perfectly reasonable...so be careful! gr-co

Don't you just hate it when that happens?...been there too gr-co

How aggravating. gr-co I've not had that happen. I'll be careful of it, thanks for the heads up.

I turned our home computer on a couple of weeks ago and it had been taken over by trojan.win home page. I called our computer guy from work and he walked me through getting rid of it. Morgan had been home and he thinks it came in an e-mail from one of his friends.

I had this happen once before and I panicked and clicked yes. Then I had to unset it as my homepage. But I'd begun to have trouble shutting down...my computer would come right back on! I updated my spyware and it found a startup Trojan...I wonder if I didn't get it from that episode.
Be careful...there are all sorts of spyware out there trying to get your information.

No kidding......I use Spybot, Adware and Telus security!!! A little overkill

No way...there are more of them than there are of us! I have Spyware Doctor and my antivirus can also check for spyware...

JO...can Spyware Doctor remove trojans in the registry?
None of mine could and we had to remove it manually.

http://www.pctools.com/Here is the website for PC Tools...I think it can clean the registry...but read about it and see what you think. :)

It would sure be nice to do it yourself and not have to call someone - i.e., I can't do it myself and get nervous because it is in the Registry!
NJO - February 20, 2006 06:56 PM (GMT)
I couldn't have by myself either. But I do think this scans the registry...you can do a trial version I believe.
Gwen - February 20, 2006 07:44 PM (GMT)
I did a trial version awhile ago and they told me the problem but in order to fix the problem you had to buy the software.

That's right...I remember. I bought it online and downloaded it...it was easy and not expensive. You can update to newer versions for 2 yrs. I believe.
