Title: Setting off airport radiation alarms
Description: after radioisotope scans

This has been all over the news this weekend, following the release of a case report in The Lancet (The Lancet = British medical journal).

Here's The Lancet's website,

http://www.thelancet.com/

and their news is that people who have undergone scans involving radioisotopes can set off airport security radiation alarms for as long as a month after the procedure. Which surprised me, for one.

Here's the article,

A few months ago, our local Bishop was detained at the Sydney airport, a couple of weeks before he had been visiting parishioners and had gotten fertiliser on his shoes, the entire contingent of priests that were travelling with him were offloaded and had to catch a later flight. It was kind of funny when it happened but as he said it is nice to know the system works regardless of the embarrasment ;)

Wow to both posts. That's amazing.
