Title: Getting some results

NJO - January 28, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)
I believe I'm beginning to see result from the pilates. I am able to get up and down easier. I just hope the abs start showing improvement soon.

We do need to keep on ... persistance counts! I'm saying this for my benefit most of all...

Any ideas and/or suggestion to help all of us be more healthy and fit would be welcome. If you are the correct weight...still feel free to join in and get healthier with us. l1wv

I'm up 8 pounds  but it's probably the holiday goodies plus thyroid issues. We did have sunshine this morning, and it seems to be getting sunny now and we're about 50 after starting in the 20's this morning. I'm still resting a lot and needed 5mg extra at noon today so I could remember why I crossed the room. l1wv

It is so warm and nice here...I haven't weighed myself in weeks...afraid to see the results.

But if we can just learn to eat better and get as fit as we can for our condition that will be good...

I am able to feel that I am stronger and even beginning to feel "rewarded" when I workout. I am still doing only a short time on the pilates but I want to go slow and be able to do it.

Any good ideas for healthy snacks, food will be appreciated. -cks-

Well the results aren't in my weight! <s> I took the plunge and stepped on the scale this morning and .....oh, the same! What is it they say muscle weighs more than fat? Yeah right I'm getting all muscly(word?) ^db^ -cks- ^db^ Not!

Hi Jo...you asked about snacks. I like protein for a snack or yogurt - around 100 calories.

So glad to hear that you are keeping at it. Forget the weight, go on how you feel and when you feel stronger perhaps you'll increase the exercise and you'll see the weight results that you're after. (0)

Well I think I stayed with it a little longer just now...I hate to do the exercise...boring! With pilates you are supposed to concentrate on the moves and your breathing...not my strong point!

Gwen - February 3, 2006 07:12 PM (GMT)
I do the same exercises every day. Aerobics is the plan out my day time - some days I arrive home and I cannot remember parts of the circuit. Lifting weights I have to concentrate & count - I like the weights. Sit ups (HATE THEM) are the worst for me and I wish I could zone out but you need to concentrate and count. How people do 1000 per day is beyond me. I do 150 with great effort!!

Gwen...you really impress me. 150 sit-ups ! (0) That is very impressive...I need to increase slowly or I'll end up down and then no more for a while. You are very fit...good for you! You are going to be my inspiration. Keep me prodded when needed , okay? ^db^ hd ^db^ need this very much...

Susanne - February 3, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
Gwen, that's incredible :o . I couldn't do that many sit ups when I was a teenager 300 years ago.

You wouldn't be impressed with my language near the end - situps burn!! When I read how many some people do or the squats with weights (they burn, too) - I just can't imagine it. But I guess you do what you gotta do.

Hey Susanne, we didn't need to do situps 300 years ago!!!

NJO - February 8, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
Gwen.....I've started to do sit ups! I did 20 the last two days. Way short of your 150 but a start. Or am I doing crunches? I am pleased with myself anyway! ^db^

This is what I hope we will do with this forum...spur the other on to do more.

I feel so much better exercising... hd

Way to go Jo.....they're tough no matter what name you give them! ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^ ^db^

Gwen how long did it take you to build up to the 150 sit ups? I can do 20 @ the time now and it's getting easier.

You are in such grat shape... (0) ^db^ (0)

Gwen - February 13, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
Hi Jo.....I cannot remember how long it took me to get to 150 but I do know I stayed at 90 for awhile! I used increments of 30 - the last 5 always killed!! When I took instruction in weights, they said that the last 5 reps should burn in each set so I used that for situps.

Sounds like you are definitely becoming stronger - (0)

I know what you mean by the last five really burning...
