Dear NADF Membership:

We just received an important update from NADF's Pharmaceutical Liaison Volunteer, Les Sass. He reports that he called West-Ward Pharmaceuticals' customer service (1-800-631-2174). West-Ward reps told Les that, yes, indeed, their cortisone acetate product is on back-order. They currently have no inventory on hand...having shipped all their supply to drug wholesalers. West-Ward can supply no "release date", which means they have no idea when they will receive raw materials needed to make the medication. They suggest they will have a better idea in February 2006 of the status of this product.

If you are concerned about goings on with your cortisol replacement medication, please feel free to call the manufacturer and let them know how important your medication is to you.

Also, if West-Ward's cortisone acetate is your prescribed medication, this would be a good time to file an FDA Medwatch form to remind the FDA how important Addisonian's life-saving medications are to us. (Form attached in PDF format or go to FDA.gov to file online.)
