Title: My cat Jasmine...a tooth ache?
NJO - January 2, 2006 04:00 PM (GMT)
I have to take my cat Jasmine to the vet today...she has been having a sore mouth the past few days...I dread this for her because she has a eyetooth that formed a tush and think it's what's sore! I hate to have dental work and I hate to think of her having to have this tooth pulled! I am a big baby where my cats are concerned...

Sorry Jo. Let us know what the vet says. When we first adopted our cat Herbie, he had had a lot of dental problems (it was luckily all in his records) but we've had him for five years and he hasn't had any more problems because I have his teeth cleaned every two years. He apparently produces a lot of plaque or whatever so that was the problem
I hope Jasmine feels better and doesn't need any surgery. Maybe just an antibiotic for an infection or something. I hope so, although it's not easy to give animals medicine either.
Good luck. :)

The vet put her on antibiotics and I take her Thurs. for the tooth to be pulled and her teeth cleaned. I should have their teeth cleaned as the vet keeps trying to suggest...but I hate to put them through it! This tooth is loose so Dr. Ruth thinks it will be a very simple extraction and cleaning.
Iris will probably have to have her teeth done next!

An ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure  I know it's difficult to do many things when our pets object, but sometimes we should just grit our teeth and do it. Marti

I'm glad the doc said it should be simple. I hope all goes well. Don't fret about it, you don't need the stress. ;)

I believe I can already see that she is feeling better...she is taking Clindamycin and the tissue around the tooth looks less inflamed!

Our groomer found a lump on our dog prior to Christmas. She is prone to fatty deposits and we have had several removed. This one felt harder and was in a new locale so we were concerned. Turned out to be another fatty lump (0) Catherine, the groomer, was relieved as were we.
Glad to hear that your cat is doing better.

Oh, that good that it was a fatty tumor...not a mast cell cancer. Those can take a dog's life very fast. My cat Peaches had one several years ago and we were fortunate to get it all and then there seemed to be another one, but the biopsy ruled an insect bite! Must have been a spider...
We are so attached to our pets aren't we?

Very attached even though I am allergic to dogs!! After nearly 10 years and so many walks together, we are a team!

Well I took Jasmine to the vet today to have the tooth extracted...while there a huge black dog was brought in that was having seizures and foaming at the mouth...it really scares me. The FDA recalled Daimond, Country Value and Prefessional dog food made in Gaston. SC because it has aflatoxin in it! It has killed at least 23 dogs. This feed was shipped to 29 other countries...scary isn't it?

Well jasmine had to have two teeth pulled! One molar had a very large cavity and it's the one that was so hard on her. A complicated extraction...she came out of the anesthesia fast and the Dr. said she should be good to go now and that she is a sturdy little cat! (0)

Jasmine didn't even need pain meds today...she is feeling good. I have four doses of pain med but I'm not going to give it to her unless she seems to hurting...can you tell I really love that little cat? :D
