Dear NADF Membership:
If you are taking Westward Pharmaceutical's hydrocortisone, please inspect your pill supply to make sure that you have been given hydrocortisone only! Story follows:
We received some very disturbing news from a support group officer. It seems she brought home her newly purchased Hydrocortisone 20 mg tablets made by Westward Pharmaceuticals, and after inspecting them, found three pills that didn't belong.
She returned the pills to her pharmacy, where they identified the odd pills as Isordil, which is for angina pain relief. The pharmacist immediately took the remaining two bottles of Westward hydrocortisone off their shelf, and after inspecting them, found a few Isodil in those bottles also. The pharmacist said he would report the problem to Westward.
Thank goodness the support group officer checked her pills. We hate to think what could have happened if she had ingested this other medication.
We should all carefully inspect all of our prescribed medications before ingesting them. Mistakes happen.
Be careful out there!
We hope everyone's Holiday Season has been joyful - not too stressful - and you all have a safe Happy New Year!
Best-
