Title: Made it through the day!

Maureen - November 25, 2005 01:45 AM (GMT)
I slept in today until about 10:45, had my coffee and started cooking. I made a turkey breast instead of a huge turkey, and wow...how easy was that?? Everyone was afraid that the "stuffing" wouldn't taste the same because it wasn't in the bird, but it turned out yummy! Hubby was in kitchen all afternoon with me  washing dishes as I used them...what a big help that was  Felt great and ate a little bit of everything even 2 glasses of wine (0) When we got to the coffee and pumpkin pie I totally ran out of gas and headed to the living room to rest while the guys cleaned up. Thinking about pajamas now and a fleece blanket and chilling while the guys watch football. What do ya think? Maureen

Yikes...I forgot! No laying around for me now. I am in the middle of recording a book for my son for one of his firefighter classes. He is dyslexic and struggles with the textbooks so I record them and he listens to them in the car or before going to bed. He had his textbooks on tape all through high school and got them from the Library of Congess, but unfortunately they don't have these fightfighter manuals on tape yet. For them to record the books would take 6 months or so. I figured it would be easier and quicker to just do these myself. I can only do 40 minutes or so at a time or I get hoarse, but they are very interesting so it isn't too bad. Off to read! l1wv Maureen

That is great Maureen...I know that your son is very appreciative of your efforts. :) I think you must be a very good mother. l1wv

Yes Jo, he always tells me how much he loves to hear my voice on his tapes instead of a stranger. I have thought about doing it for the "Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic". It is a wonderful service available to people that need it. We have a friend with CP and he can't hold a book to read, so he uses their tapes too. Maureen

Oh, Reading for the Blind would be wonderful...a great thing to do for others. I know you have a very giving heart...

Mo, I think that is so great that you do this for you son. And it certainly would be a great way to make extra money because you could do it when you felt up to it. My mother in law was legally blind and we would get her books on tape occasionally. She enjoyed them. (grh)
