Title: Trying to fine tune my engine!
NJO - November 9, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
I keep trying to fine tune my meds hoping it will be the answer to my continuing tiredness/poorer health. I am beginning to think I may be taking too much CoQ10. I take 100 mg. and I am somewhat hyper without the go-go energy. I decreased my T4 today and I can tell that's not it! Getting the tight/something on my neck feeling...I ordered a large bottle of 30 mg. CoQ10 and that was more the strenght I took for years. Cheaper, too! Wal-Mart was costing too much.
I just hate to be so unproductive. I need to get this house under control.

You sound like me Jo :D I start changing this and that and when it finally works, I'm not sure why. Maybe you're just fighting off a viral thing. I did up to 30 for all the running we did today...always take 15 a.m. and usually take my 10 at 4:00, but took that at noon today and added 5 HC at 4:00. Did away with the brain fog! I was all over the kitchen trying to get my lunch together...kept forgetting what I was doing! Half hour on the couch and I was ready to head out again.

Hope you're feeling better SOON!!!

I hope you find the answer soon, Jo. Don't worry about being unproductive, you are sick, you are not being lazy, so don't go thinking that way. There will always be time to do things that need to be done when you feel better. And you will, don't worry. You just have to find the right spark plug for your tune up :P

 I think I have been ODing on CoQ10! :P I left it off so far today and i feel better...I think with getting off so much of the meds i was on has reduced my need. I order some 30mg capsules yesterday and will use those. I guess I was too revved-up! It was tiring me out. Weird! l1wv
Still believe it's good stuff, just need less.

Found an article on about.com about how to take T3 and have a steady supply all day...I am going to tty this as I am running out at night. I put the article in the Library, if you'd like to read it. :)

I saw the article but haven't read it yet, Jo. I hope this works well for you. Good luck (grh)

You know taking the T3 @ 5:00am,1:00pm and the last dose @ 9:00pm is beginning to help! I sleep better and I had been having trouble going to sleep now for a good while. And I am taking the vit D and it is helping...so thanks for the tip Marti! l1wv

The main thing is that you're feeling better, sometimes it's tough to figure out! Glad to hear the vitamin D is working for you too! :D

Thanks for telling me about the need for Vit D. I am sleeping better now in that I go to sleep easier. I must have been running out of tyroid meds and it was making my feet burn apparently because I haven't noticed them keeping me awake these past couple of nights! Aren't we intricately made? So easy to have something go awry...

A while ago, a piece was posted on HO about Vitamin D by Wanda. She has given me permission to post it here as I had saved it and find it interesting. Here it is:
"Women who take oral corticosteroids (such as prednisone & cortisone) to treat asthma, allergies & other inflammatory diseases may be at increased risk of a D deficiency. The reason: Vitaman D plays a key role in calcium absorption, but cortico-steroids hinder the body's ability to absorb calcium. To compensate, the body uses excess D to make calcium available to the blood & bones, Dr. Holick explains. Therefore women who need corticosteroids should supplement with vitamin D (about 300IU) & calcium (500mg) three times daily & take them with food since stomach acids secreted during digestion enhance absorption

Thank-you for posting that Susanne, I must have missed it. How are you feeling today?

Thanks Susanne for posting this and please pass along my thanks to Wanda. I may still be short of Vit D...very good info.

How are you feeling, Jo? Gee, I feel like I haven't talked to you in weeks but what has it actually been, four days? I hope you are doing better and looking forward to Thanksgiving Day.
My daughter is coming home tonight. They have to be out of the dorm by noon, but then she is going out to dinner with her "friend" Eric.
NJO - November 23, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
Is she by any chance inviting him for THanksgving dinner? :( I am in withdrawal ,too. (Phone that is!) I am doing okay...Marti has helped a lot by suggesting the Vit D.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a happy time together. Liz being home is a treat isn't it?
Susanne - November 23, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
No, she hasn't invited him for TG dinner. It would have been fine with me but she didn't ask and I didn't offer. I think I'll just stay out of it.
Yes, it is a treat when she is home. I miss her.
