I totally agree with this article and I can relate it to my Dad's sudden passing and the horrible affect it had on me.

I was good all through the funeral, contacting people to let them know Mom and Dad's fortieth anniversary was off and telling them about Dad. My older sister always stays in the background - she did with Mom's passing as well. I made all the arrangements for Mom - EVERYTHING, even wrote the obit.

When Dad passed I totally redecorated our home - kept busy busy busy and tried to put it out of my mind. It did not work. :(

During that time I worked in admin at a hospital and a doctor friend asked me what was wrong. To my horror I burst out crying. <s> I was so tense and wound up and sad. He spoke with me and asked me if there were unsaid things between my Dad and I and, no, there weren't. I had not mourned properly, I had tried to run mentally from it all.

He told me to start exercising. He said he needed exercise to cope with his job. So I joined a group and 4 months later I was back to normal. :) That whole experience took nearly one year.

A sudden death is so hard to deal with BUT it's also devastating to watch your loved one slowly drift away mentally and physically as my Mom did.

I exercise daily and when I can't I really miss it.

Gwen you are so right about how a death that is sudden can be so tramatic my dad and brother went very quickly and mom was sick longer and in pain and it was so hard to see her suffer. You are right too that it take a while to recover.

I really appreciate your comments on this article, because I'm sure that it will help others who are going through a grieving process.

Thanks for sharing...
