Title: B6 Buzz

Well I went to the health store or whatever you call them to find some progesterone cream. Well I couldn't use any of it because it had aloe in it which I can't use because of the fibro protocol. So I asked them what else might help... I explained the whole addisons thing and such. Well they suggested a supplement called Vitex and B6. They said they were good for helping a women's hormonal issues and that it would probably help the remaining ovary to do it's job better. Well I don't know if it's helping my hormonal things yet but I have had energy and some to spare. I have felt really perky....and didn't even fall into bed dead last night. If I don't have a nap, like I didn't yesterday, I will usually always be really ready to sleep at night. But I was still feeling good when it was bed time. Today I feel quite perky too. Do any of you take B6? I think that's what's giving me the energy boost. It's 100 mgs taken once a day. Just curious if any of you have taken B6 and what you felt.

I take B6 but only 25 mg. It is a vitamin that can cause problems when overdosed...but I eat a lot of nuts and grains , so , I am sure I get more than the 25 mg. I really benefit from B12 also.

I am not real familiar with vitamins, but I always thought B6 was kind of like a diuretic??????

I don't know if everyone with Pernicious Anemia has problems with the oral B vitamins, but I do. They all act as a diuretic to me, as does vitamin C.

Now, I don't think I get the diuretic effect from the B's but I do with vit. C. Hope the vitamin helps you feel more yourself, Shelley.

Vitex/Chaste BerryThis is interesting...I have known of Chaste Berry but didn't realize that's another name for Vitex. It increases progesterone through the LH/pituitary.

Hi Shelley,
One of my Dr's put me on B-6. It is for the Carpal Tunnel & Rhue. Arthritis in my right hand. Dr told me (& I looked it up for back up, as I NEVER EVER just TRUST a Dr w/o backup info) it is good for healing the nerve damage (if not already TOO far gone) associated with Carpal Tunnel.
Also, being a B Vitamin, ALL B Vitamins work along with the HPA Cortex in giving us Energy Stamina, and a general feeling of well being. ALL B vitamins are therefore HIGHLY recommended for Addisonians.
B-6 also (supposedly) increase Serotonin levels - although more tests need to be done on this.
My Dr started me out on 50 mg. (per pill) 1 tab, 3 X daily.
