Title: ER visit and hospital stay

Hi All, Last Thursday my chest discomfort came back so off to the ER I went. After a million doctors (and one was very handsome, which made me happy) {htd} and tests, including a stress test (which I was able to complete!) ^db^ ), they found nothing heart related. I stayed there Thursday and Friday night and was glad when they let me go home on Saturday afternoon. They had a heart monitor on me all that whole time and there were no problems found. So....I am home, it is HOT and I am cranky. I slept 13 hours today and I am still tired. I am achy all over and I know it is rebound stress from everything. I am fine and they attribute the chest discomfort to stress....of course! When they can't find anything wrong they plan it on stress don't they?? I am still getting little "twinges" in my chest every so often so I am going to make an appointment with my gasto guy and see if my hiatel hernia is causing the problem. AND my computer is broken <s> and it is not even a year old! (So I am on my Mom's computer because I had to come over and babysit.) I am going to try to catch up on the posts...I hope everyone is feeling good and not too hot.

Hi....this may sound very simplistic....but have you tried taking an antigas med....I just use generic simethecone.....tried it 'just to see' if it helped the discomfort/pains I would have....never thought of them as typical 'gas' discomfort and would take an antacid when needed....but the simethecone really helps....If you haven't tried it...it is harmless and might be worth the experiment.....Glad it was not heart related....
Lytes were ok?

Hi Mo,

I just overbaked David's birthday cheesecake - Arch didn't hear the microwave timer! Neither did I!

Sorry to hear you were so miserable. It's better to go and know it's OK than to sit around and fret about it. Glad you're home and hope you feel much better by tomorrow. Puters are a big PAIN gr-co

Glad your heart was fine...and I second Diane's recommendation, anti-gas meds can be of help...it is a real pain when your computer acts up. I am lost without mine. gr-co But they can sure be a problem.

Mo, sure glad it was not your heart. Having your electrolytes out of whack can cause some chest discomfort. Hope you are feeling better. Take care, (grh)

I have tons of digestive problems too, and am wondering if your chest pain is something like I have....When I first started having the problem, I thought it was my heart too, but after an endoscope, they found I had/have Barrett's esophagus and stomache erosions...I hope you can get in and have an endoscope. I did ask the gastro, "how am I supposed to know if I'm having a heart attack when I have this kind of pain?" He didn't have an answer for me...I am glad you are going to see a gastro and the pain is MUCH worse with stress!!!

I came at having addisons in a really strange way. I did not lose weight or tan but I had terrible terrible muscle cramps and massive chest pain. I thought I was having a heart attack many times. I went to the evil room alot and they ran test after test on my heart and they all came back normal. The only thing wrong was that my heart rate was 120 at rest and no matter how many drugs they through at it it was super fast. They had me in the hospital once for 2 weeks running tests... nada. I did the stress test and the whole thing...all normal. Then one time when I went in with a racing heart and chest pain I had an er doc think to run an ACTH stim test on me...and viola! I had addisons. But I also had a kidney doc dx me with POTS...postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. In other words my heart goes too fast and they don't know why. So I take a couple of heart meds to slow it down. It was the combo of florinef and heart meds that finally put my heart at ease and the chest pain stopped. It took a few years to get it figured out though. I tell you this to say that there are other reasons for chest pain other than heart and if it keeps happening keep looking. It's no fun having chest pains...and it's scary too. You take it easy and get feeling better!!

I agree, Mo, keep looking. I get some odd pains sometimes and do have a hiatus hernia and gas does cause some of it...

Shelley, one of the first things going wrong for me was a fast heart rate...it is better controlled at this time...I had a lot of chest pain before I got florinef and changed to HC...even arm pain. I have thought lots of times "is this my heart?" Addison's can cause chest pain...
