Zac's major complaint before he was diagnosed was stomach pains so after his crisis, he was put on gycolax and dulcolax and that in addition to the hc, flurdrocrotisone seemed to do the trick. He hates taking the dulcolax so after asking several time, i told him he could stop taking it as long as he kept up with the sticker calendar (he puts a sticker on the calendar everytime he has a bm) well now he's been off of it for a couple of weeks and i think also the gycolax (hubby does that) but he has been having regular bowel movements, could he still get stomach pains ?? now i'm wondering if this is all related. it just all clicked with me.
Stomach pains are part of the undiagnosed picture of Addison's but with treatment it is not usually a problem unless you are going into crisis...if he is having BM's his bowel function must be okay and the pains were probably the AD not something else...I wouldn't push him to take these if he's doing okay...but just my thoughts. You may want to ask his doctor if it's okay to leave these products off...
thanks Jo - I'll keep an eye on him, he wasn't missing school for anything today, book fair, book buddies (his class reads to kindergarteners) and his friends birthday.
I dealt with stomach pain for years before being diagnosed with Addisons, and for a short while after.
Mine finally went away and have not had had any since.
Hopefully his will go away as well.
