[FONT=Geneva][SIZE=7][COLOR=green] I just made the BEST bread I have ever made...(if I do say so myself) B)

We got this new wheat and I mixed it with the older red winter wheat we had and oh it is soooo yummy. There is nothing like having a piece of whole wheat homemade bread fresh from the oven.... wish there was a way I could teleport some to all of you!! :D

Do you use all whole wheat or some bread flour in your bread...I've never been able to get all whole wheat to be light enough...I have a friend that used to get her flour from a food combine and she had a better quality than I could buy in the supermarket...but she made white bread as I did at then time...I would rather have whole wheat as I know it's better for us.

I'm sure that you home smells wonderful! -cks- Enjoy!

:o Oh my goodness!!! You actually bake bread?? We have a joke in our house about my cooking...because I'm Irish the food is either boiled or burned, and if the first line on a recipe says "pre-heat oven to..." well, then I don't make it! Thank goodness for Chips Ahoy cookies! Maureen

I actually have a wheat grinder and grind my own wheat. This time I used red winter wheat and some of my new wheat which is white winter wheat. It is so yummy I can't even tell you.
My bread recipe is easy and very yummy. My kids call it the food of the gods.
It is
2/3 cup oil
1 cup honey
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
5 cups VERY hot water (but not boiling)
3 tablespoons red star yeast (the only good yeast)
1/4 cup gluten flour (this is what helps it to be lighter)
about 12-14 cups whole wheat flour
Knead for a minimum of ten minutes.
Let rise. Place in 5 bread loaf pans and let rise again. Bake 350* for 25-30 minutes. The bread freezes very well in a good freezer ziplock bag. I try to grind my wheat right before I use it so it limits the loss of vitamins....and it just tastes fresher.
This is the bread dough that I make my homemade cinnamon rolls out of also. So they are more nutritous than regular ones.

Yeah Mo, sometimes I think I was born in the wrong century.... I love to cook all sorts of things. I never buy store bought anything really. I always buy the ingredients not the finished product. I love to quilt, grow a veggie garden, can my own food, homeschool my kids, knit and read. I also don't have TV....so yeah I'm a freak :D :o But I do love my computer and the good friends and support I get here and all the great info I can get from the internet. I also love flush toilets and without modern medicine I'd be dead....so I'd have to say I'm very glad I live in the nowadays, although I do enjoy a lot of the olden days stuff
People do think I'm a but funny because I grind my own wheat and make bread and I can my own jams, pickles, tomatos, fruits etc.... but then when they come and taste all my homemade goodies they don't think I'm so weird anymore... hee hee

I used to bake all our bread , too! It was so much tastier...I made about 5 loaves at a time and froze them and I used to can and I used to knit and make quilts, so, Shelley you aren't odd at all! I would love a wheat grinder! I know the bread would taste so much better with good flour...I also have some wheat gluten in the freezer from way back when...it does make the bread lighter...adds protein, too!

I also used to make all my clothes...what happened? I have a couple of knitting projects started that will have to be raveled out because I want remember where I was...

Hi Shelley,

I have a bread baking oven and I'm going to try that recipe next week while I'm on vacation.

Taking a (Well needed) week off of work for the Mem Day holiday. Been deciding to do Mini-Vacations every few months this year to keep from going "Bonkers"!!!
With all my Health problems & working Full time, it gets to be VERY hard.

I took a Mini-Vacation the week of Presidents Day also as we got that holiday at work so I only had to take 4 vacation days & it was REALLY Rejuvenating!!! ^db^ gdbV

Having lunch Tuesday with Jennifer (Rumpled) for all of you that remember Jen.
This is the first time I've seen her since her MIL Passed away. Like me she is stilll going thru many Trials & Tribulations with her health.

Have a Dr's appt Thursday morning & the dog has a grooming appt of WEdnesday afternoon. But other than that keeping it LOOSE & LAID BACK.

Working a few hrs Saturday morning for my friend who owns a Health Food STore, but the rest of the time (off) is my own. Can't Wait!! gdbV
