Title: DHEA delimma
Shelley bob - May 15, 2008 05:10 AM (GMT)
I can't seem to get my dose to a good place. If I take 25 mgs one day and 12.5 the next that is too much and my face starts breaking out and my skin gets really oily. But if I take 25mgs every other day then my elbows and feet start to get so dry and crack and hurt. <_< It's funny how just that little change makes such a big difference in my body. I don't like having my face broken out cuz I'm waaaaay too old for that to be happening...hee hee but it is also painful when my feet are dry and cracking. There is also no amount of lotion etc...that makes the cracking better. The only thing that works is the DHEA. Anybody else have this problem balancing their DHEA?

Shelley, i ran out of dhea a few weeks ago.....and my face is so dry...I never made the connection.....??!!
I went from 25 a day to taking 10 a day due to too much stink. Maybe you could try getting 10 mg tabs if the 25 are capsules and just try taking a consistent amt every day and see if that helps...
I take Natrol brand and the store has been out....I will stock up when they get them in this week.....
Oh and also, I swear I am more fatigued w/out it.....
Also I know a few people who have and do take flax seed oil capsules every day and it helps them. One is a teen who had a problem w/ his hands drying .....the flax clears it rt up.

Hi Shelly,
I do like Dianne & take the 10 mg., from Natrol. Otherwise I build up too much in my system & skin gets oily etc.
I also recently purchased a Cream (it dispenses like a Mousse) that is DHEA cream each dose has 7.5 mg. I haven't tried it yet, as I had a RASH I was waiting to get rid of. I figured maybe it won't build up in my system as badly, therefore causing LESS side effects. I'll definately let you all know how it woeks out.

I am down to taking only 6.5 mg. per day...more and I start to breakout...I ,too, hate that! I also get too aggressive?

I also take Natrol brand, 25mg tablets that I split in half. 12.5 seems to work fine for me now with no side effects. My endo used to check my levels every once in a while, have you ever had your levels checked?

Kathy...will you do pre and post dhea cream bloodwork to see what it is doing....wouldn't that be nice to get the level up w/out me stinking too much.....

I have had my levels checked in the past, and according to them (bloodwork) I'm always fine. But I FELT better when I was taking LOw Dose DHEA.
I will see Doc & have bloodwork next week, but will prob NOT get DHEA level. Have too many other important things I need him to run. Need to re-run my Vitamin D level, I want him to run a Calcium & PTH (or whatever its called) Parathyroid - will look up name before next week - since my Vitamin D last time was so HORIFICALLY Low!! I'm also having lower back pain - ONLY since my Vitamin D level has been so low.
So I need a CBC, Lytes, PTH, Vitamin-D level and then whatever He (Dr) wants. PLUS we have to discuss my last bloodwork he did which showed that I am "IGG3" deficient. Which I googled and it basically mean that you just "catch" stuff easily. No real treatment for it. But might explain why I'm ALWAYS coming down w/ something new!!
But I usually just go by how I feel & if I have Side Effects of too much. In my opinion, Lab Standards are set to low on a lot of things, DHEA is one of them.
