Title: Good News!

Hi Everyone,
My orthopod is conservative, and suggested a cortisone injection in the left knee - it feels better already! If this is successful, it might lead to a layering procedure over a 6 week period, getting injected once a week, I think he said. It is helpful to some people and not to others. The last choice to be made is surgery, so I'm now a happy camper!
Thanks all of you for understanding how "edgy" I've felt, and to you Jo for the phone calls to check up on me. (grh)
Counting my blessings :P

I am so happy for you! I was hoping some of the less drastic procedures would work! And I was crying on your shoulder Monday!
So, I am glad for you my friend! (0) ^db^ gdbV
I love talking to you Marti and if I helped I'm pleased. (grh)

Took a 1mg prednisone tablet a little while ago - needed more steroid, probably from the stress of the day. I usually take another 5mg HC, but thought I'd try the pred.
Forgot to mention all the support from my friends here - guess I am a little stressed out. :( You ladies are fantastic! :D

Marti...glad you found some relief......just be aware of a couple of things.....first.....cortisone shots like this are to be considered a 'bandaid'....and offer temporary relief only....and two....repeated cortisone shots in a joint can deteriorate the joint......so just be very cautious at how many shots you let him give you....I would read up on that....
I don't want to burst your bubble but most likely the surgery will be needed at some point.....

Thanks all for your good wishes. This is my first cortisone injection and I'm pleased to be without pain for the first time in 7 months. Having the special health problems I have, the doctor felt it best to give cortisone first, since no one had ever offered it to me. It allows me to be mobile in my home, I will still use an electric cart wherever they are offered when shopping, and I only shop where they're offered!

I think the gel injections are what I was trying to tell you about on the phone...I know someone else that must have had those...can't remember the name. Hope it will help and you can avoid surgery.

I'd heard of them before too, but Dr. was the first one to speak of them after Carol asked the question. (Yes, Patty was sick in bed w/ 103.? temp and couldn't make it)
I promise, no races around the block or yard work, just walking around the house and TO the electric carts! Laundry! Oh yes, I need to put clothes in - it's on the same floor, so no steps. My goal is to make it lastt as long as I can. (grh)

This is interesting about the gel...are they injections? I will read on this sometime.....
Hope it works for you...
