Title: Fun hobby

I am having lots of fun doing my family history. It is so easy now with so much information on the internet!
I just found a really fun thing out..... my great great great uncle was the sherrif of the town I was born in. It was originally called Dry Diggins but because he was a tough sherrif and hung people they changed the name to Hangtown. Now it is called Placerville, thank goodness. But isn't that an amazing coincidence?
It's so fun to be able to find about your distant ancestors. I also found out that two of my ancestors were on the Mayflower and because of that there are lots of stories about them and such. My great great great grandfather was on the first wagon train of immigrants to settle in CA. I might be weird (actually I'm pretty sure that I am) but I think doing family history is interesting and fun. It's kind of like detective work.
Anybody else like doing family history?

I did some of this years ago before computers made it easier and have dabbled since and found a cousin in San Antoinio, TX...that was interesting. My SIL is really into doing genealogy research...major with her! Lot's of people really enjoy it so you are not weird!
My father's family came to this country via New Jersey then South Carolina then Tennessee...
I think it's neat that you have ancestors on the Mayflower! *!*

Yes, Shelley, I have done some family history searching. It is a huge job. Lots on the internet. It is good to have family stories and photos recorded, too. I have an awful time SITTING for as long as research takes, though... and keeping the sorting in my mind when it is so confusing, and all the "stuff" organized, as well. #sz#
Is anyone else having as much trouble as I am with energy lately? I just cannot pass up a chair or bed...
JOAN

LOL, I have some of my family back to the early 16th century :) Including an illegitimate great ......great...something that was born at Forrabury Castle in Cornwall....maybe I am descended from royalty? Some of my family came to Australia during the gold rush years and I have tracked their course around the country etc. It is fascinating and you can get distracted in trying to find the more personal history rather than the genealogy of it all. I haven't done any for ages though.

Hi Joan,
YES!! I thought it was just me...with the FADING Energy thing!! Can barely get out of bed in the AM. Have been late for work Sooo much lately. Once I get there I'm okay, and then I have the USUAL energy LAg in the afternoon...around 2 or 2:30, but luckily I leave by 3:45 or 4 most days. I only get 6 to 7 hours this way, but iy seems to be all I can handle right now.
Then when I get home, I lie down on the couch & want to DOZE!!! #sz# Have to FORCE myself to stay awake to make supper, pack a lunch for the next day's work & set the Coffee Maker. I try NEVER to actually go to bed before 9 pm, or if I do manage to go off, I will wake up like 5 am & be unable to go back to sleep, and then Feel like DIRT all day because I got up so early!!
