Title: Addison's cause

KylesMom - May 4, 2008 04:17 PM (GMT)
I got another odd question. Been doing some thinking and trying to get some answers to ease my mind. Been having a hard time dealing with the fact tht my son has this disease. I'm always looking on the web trying to find causes for Addison's other than the same oh...well sometimes the body just turns on itself. It is so odd that God picked my son to have this.
When Kyle was little he accidently got some fo his vaccinations twice. It was some mishap between doctors. they thought he had not recieved them but he already had, resulting in him recieving a few of them twice (not back-to-back)
I know this is probably far fetched, but I know that sometimes AD is caused by TB. Ya think I'm crazy to wonder if he got the booster shots twice that thre could be some contrributing factors here or am I just grasping for straws?
WHen I get like this, I relive every moment of his childhood and try to think of what could have happened. I am just stressing today.
I gotta 'nother question and am gonna make another post. Hope you guys aren't tired of listening to me. ;)

No, never fret about asking questions. (grh)

I doubt the vaccines would have done it but the immune system is very complicated and who knows what might set the process in motion...there are other causes of AD...like fungal infections, TB ( calcification from the disease) hemorrhage...but I can drive myself nuts by going back and trying to second guess myself and what I did...it's not going to change the end result and I did the best I could at the time. And I am sure you did too! Don't be too hard on yourself... (grh)

While technically it shouldn't, if there is no official record of the immunisations it is standard practice to repeat them, we never really know what triggers an autoimmune response, so theoritically it is possible. What ever his trigger was, it is not likely that you will ever know, it could have been a virus that triggered it it could have been anything. You do get to a point where you accept that this has happened and stop looking for Why's and just move on from there. Whatever the "why" was, it was something that could not have been prevented, there is nothing that you could have changed. Sorry you are going through this.
