Title: Fibro raising it's ugly head

Shelley bob - April 22, 2008 04:59 AM (GMT)
Well I told you how they aren't carrying the generic meds anymore and I ran out. I thought I would see if I could just go without them now and be OK. Well my body let me know today that it is totally unhappy with my decision. I fell like I have arthritis in my arms and wrists and hands. I hurt all over but especailly in my arms!! So you can tell me it's all in my head and I don't care... I want me guai back!! I would much rather take guai then have to rely on pain meds just to get through the day. Phillip found some that is more reasonabley priced on the internet that we will order tomorrow. Meanwhile I might have to break down and buy the dumb mucinex. I really don't want to play into their monopoly but I don't have time for this pain and fatigue. I don't know how I'm going to teach ballet on Thurs. hurting like I am. I had to take a nap yesterday and today. I haven't had to do that for a long time. I can't get over how much my joints are hurting.

On another note. I really reccommend using the hair conditioner for your hands. My cuticles are all happy again and my nails are also less dry and ridgey. Teh neat thing is that it really soaks in. I put some on and not too long after that I had to my hands wet and they didn't feel slippery or greasy like they usual do right after you use lotion.

Well I guess that's enough whining out of me...
 This is for the drug companies...
and  this is for all of you who put up with my whining...

 Shelley, I am sorry you are hurting today. Take care and do whatever it takes to feel better... {htd} JOAN )O(

NJO - April 22, 2008 01:57 PM (GMT)
Shelley...I am so sorry this has happened. You know what is helping you and I hope you can get a supply soon...soemtimes the online pharmacies do have better prices...did he check Drugstore.com? That's where I order my thermotabs since the pharmacy here "can't" order them anymore.

Thanks for letting us know how well the hair conditioner is working...

And whine anytime you feel the need! (grh)

Dianne - April 22, 2008 02:03 PM (GMT)
Shelley, well ....you have just done your own personal study on the effectiveness of the treatment.....It is great and exciting to have found something that works for you w/ this....NOW...go to the store and buy some more..!! You are worth it, your family is worth is, and your well-being is worth it. There isn't a price on those things....and you must do what you can to stay feeling as well as you can....!!

On-line is a good idea...but don't wait and let yourself relapse....the longer you go w/out the longer it might take to recover.....

Will be waiting to hear how re-starting it up is working.....
Diane

Shelley, I just checked for the heck of it and the patent for mucinex doesn't expire til 2020.....
D

Dianne - April 22, 2008 02:18 PM (GMT)
Shelley, how much mucinex does the protocol call for? Just curious..
D

NJO - April 22, 2008 02:27 PM (GMT)
I found the 600 mg. extended release on Drugstore @ 18.+ for 40 and 46.+ for 100...this is expensive but if it helps you.

Shelley bob - April 22, 2008 02:35 PM (GMT)
Thanks for listening to my whine and the support. My hubby is going this a.m. to get some guai at the local store. They found some at an affiliate store and had it sent in for me. Nice huh? But I am still going to order some on the internet. You can get it out of Canada far cheaper than here.
I take 1200mgs a day Diane. So the price of mucinex really adds up when you are taking that much a day.
I couldn't get to sleep last night until after 2. Today is going to be a long day of homeschooling. uggh.
Well I hope this doesn't take long to get my body back into shape. Boy do these arm joints of mine hurt! Yikes!!

(grh)

NJO - April 22, 2008 03:45 PM (GMT)
Well I can see your point: Mucinex really is expensive! When you need to take it twice a day! Glad you have located more from the affiliate...that was nice of them! :)

So I need your opinion ladies...

For the last couple of days I have been having this pretty intense pain where I had my ovary removed last Aug. It is coinciding with the increase in all over pain from the fibro. I started back on the guai this a.m. and noticed a slight reduction in the pain. Got a ways to go yet. But what I need your opinion on is whether you think this abdomin pain is from the fibro or could something in there be causing it? I would think it wasn't from the surgery as the ovary is gone and what else could be causing pain in there?? But I'd really like to know what you think.
Thanks,

(grh)

Shelley, What a bummer that you are feeling bad w/o your quai...you find something that works and then the big guys take it away from you! I feel bad for you. Where is this pain you are feeling, right or left side? I have had a lot of abdominal surgeries and I have pain from scar tissue at times. But I have diverticulitis and that pain is on the left lower side. I hope you feel better FAST!

Shelley could this be an infection brewing? Like in the bladder...remember your steriods will mask it...and I think some with fibro experience abdominal problems? Am I remembering correctly?

Joan - April 23, 2008 02:00 PM (GMT)
Interesting, Jo... your comment about bladder infections and aching. I have bought Chemstrip 9 dipsticks for urine testing (from the pharmacist) to use, clean catch... like the doctor would recommend, to rule out bladder infections in myself. If I have one, which I had recently, I can then go to the doctor for treatment. {htd}

Anyhow, good luck Shelley bob. I have achiness today, too, after walking only half a mile yesterday on FLAT land. oh my. owowowowow Maybe I will break out the mucinex!

)O( JOAN

Dianne - April 23, 2008 04:17 PM (GMT)
Shelley? I think maybe I would rec. taking the mucinex and see what happens and also pay attention to if you feel low on hc at all...as a way of watching for sign of infection etc....

Seems that it might be related to the mucinex discontinuation so easiest thing to rule out first..

Joan....you have fibro also? If so....it would be really interesting to see if the guauf. helped you too....??

Joan - April 23, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
Yep. Fibro. Me. Well, I might start the Mucinex. Gotta read about it, first.

JOAN

Kimberly - April 23, 2008 08:47 PM (GMT)
Shelley, sorry you are in so much pain. Hope you can find some cheaper guai. (grh) As far as the abdominal pain, I agree it may be an infection. I would wait a couple of days and if it is still bad, get it checked. (grh)

Thanks for the information about using conditioner on cuticles. gdbV I will have to give it a try. Thanks.

Take care of yourself. (grh)

I've been reading Shelley bob but not much time to post. Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.

Joan - April 26, 2008 06:05 PM (GMT)
Shelley, I have to tell you that I started taking Mucinex several days ago, and I feel BETTER! I am not sure if it is the Mucinex or what, but maybe if I believe it is.... and I think I do. Just thought I would mention it....

JOAN

NJO - April 26, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)
Shelley? How are you feeling? I hope the Mucnex has brought your pain back under control... (grh)

And Joan...believing is half the battle sometimes...

Shelley bob - April 28, 2008 04:00 AM (GMT)
I am feeling loads better thanks for asking!! I caught a cold so I haven't tested out walking yet but the constant pain and stiffness is lots better. Phillip used our credit card to buy a year and half supply of the generic guaifenison. So I'm set for at least that long.
I locked myself in my sewing room this weekend to make a quilt for my grand nephew. He was born 3 weeks ago. My folks are going to stop by here on their way back from a trip to Montana and I'm going to hand off the quilt to them to give to their first great grandchild. I sent some pictures to Jo and hopefully she will be able to post them. It is a lot simpler than I was originally planning but my life got so crazy at the beginning of this year that I had to go with a simple pattern in order to finish it before he was out of diapers!
I planned the front but didn't have any fabric for the back or even any idea. Well I ran to the local Ben Franklin's right before closing and viola! they had this super nice flannel that matched absolutely perfectly and it was on sale. Hello! Can't do better than that. I love the back it's soooo bright and fun.
My next sewing project is to sew myself that skirt and top. I need to give myself a deadline or I just put things off.... Maybe by mother's day??? Ha! like that'll happen.
Looks like I've got some messages to catch up on...might have to be tomorrow before I get to them.

(grh)

Joan,
Glad to hear you are feeling something. Are you doing the whole protocol?... eliminating salcylates? I really think that is a very important part too. I hope you keep on getting better and better and better!! ^db^

NJO - April 28, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
Shelley...I sent an email explaining my problems with the photo page...I am about ready to scream! I can't put up your lovely pictures until I get this ironed out!

Shelley bob - April 29, 2008 02:25 AM (GMT)
Well I tested out walking today since my cold is better and I can breath....and sure enough I felt good for the whole 2 miles! :D No cramping or joint pains! Yiipppeeee!

I don't know why or even care why but that guaifenison really truly helps me.... and I love being able to walk and exercise. I took my camera with me and took a couple of shots of the road where I walk. When I get them downloaded I'll share the beauty of my country walk with you. Today the tractors were out in force getting ready for the spring planting. It was neat seeing them out there working.

Have a good night everybody l1wv

Shelley.....I think this is just so amazing that this protocol helps so much....everyone should know about it.....

You quilt is so cheery and happy.....I am sure they will love it....

Hi Shelly,

Gee We have plenty of generic Guaif available around this area. Tell me what prices you're looking for doasge etc. Maybe, I could get it for you & send it to you?
Where are you located? US?? My little neighborhood drugstore carries SO much for such a small store. I "Purposely" look for the Mucinex brand because you can get it in Kids dose, and like I've said before, I CAN"T go over 200 mg. per dose or it causes HORRIBLE Side Effects.
(Could be a direct result from all the years that they PUMPED TONS of it into me w/o worrying about Toxicity effects to me!)

Let me know if you keep having a problem with it.
