Just caught up on some of the posts...a lot going on since I have been MIA. So much has been going on here that I not had time to get here, but believe me I think of all of you everyday! (grh) We have been taking care of my Mom, she is hanging in there, tomorrow is another cadio checkup and hopefully her heart problems haven't worsened. In addition a dear Uncle of ours, who is 91 and very independent needed to put in an assisted living/nursing home because his health had quickly deteriorated. We are his only family so my sister, son and I have been packing up his little condo and getting all the paperwork done, wills, power of attorney etc in order. Thankfully for us the man lives like a monk, very few belongings, and turns out also very little money. My sister is busy learning about medicare, public aid and social security. In the midst of all of this I had a tuna sandwich from a local deli and got food poisoning and ended up in the ER with dehydration. My hubby was smart and helped avoid a crisis with my shots, but I still was down for 3 days because of it. My tummy is still not right. :wacko: I nap if I need it no matter where I am...Mom's, Uncle's, or car #sz# . I have the morning off but we are going to Uncle's bank this afternoon with power of attorney papers...hopefully he has money stashed in his safety deposit box to help pay for his care, otherwise this will be a family nightmare. We love him dearly and will do anything necessary to care for him #sz#. I am going to put my two cents in to all the posts I have missed now...love you guys and hope to stay in touch now.

Glad to hear from you, Mo! (grh) You ahve had a lt going on...so sorry about the food poisoning...your uncle may qualify for Medicaid. It is so sad to get old and need long term care...must be so hard to leave your home.

Hey Maureen, good to see you posting again. Yuck about the food poisoning.... there is nothing like your body trying to get rid of something bad. You poor thing! Keep taking naps! They are a life saver sometimes.
Also what is your avatar? I've been sitting here staring at it trying to figure out what it is....is it a one eyed cat blinking at me? I can't seem to figure it out.

Shelley, It is a black and white kitty blinking from inside a bag or papers. I have a kitty that looks like the picture so that's why I picked her!

You are just giving me the giggles today Maureen....of course now I can see it. It's like one of those optical illusions that all of a sudden pop out at you...

Hello Friends, I have been MIA again but not because I wanted to be. My Uncle that I had talked about in my post at the beginning of April passed away last week very peacefully and joking with the paramedics until the very end. We were his only family really so my sister and I planned the whole service. He was very proud of his Irish heritage so there were little touches here and there of his Irish roots. He would have enjoyed it. Now we just need to move his things out of his apartment and settle all his bills. What a couple of weeks. My Mom's cardio doctor told us there is little he can do for my Mom except keep her comfortable. But she is feeling good and feisty as ever. I need a good few days off to recuperate and get some laundry done! It's amazing how it can multiply when you aren't looking!

So sorry about your uncle...but what a good way to remember him...that he had a peaceful time and was laughing and joking with those with him...take time for yourself now!

Maureen, I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this. I know how it is... I have been there, too. Try to take a few hours and get some fresh air and sunshine... if you have any.
