Title: Egg question
Description: separating .....

Dianne - August 27, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
Thinking of trying to separate the whites and yolks for cholesterol reasons rather than buying the expensive egg beaters, etc.
Does anyone have any idea how long the separated whites might keep in a plastic container??!! A weird question I know!!
TRYING to get serious about dietary changes....a never ending battle w/ me who takes the eating path of least work!!!

I am not sure but certainly a day or so...how about freezing them in small amounts unless it is something you need the correct consistency inorder for it to be good...like merringue.

Diane, at the bottom of this page http://cc.msnscache.com/cache.aspx?q=39858...n-US&FORM=CVRE4 is an Egg Storage Chart that says that egg whites can be kept for 2 to 4 days in the fridge and 12 months in the freezer. :)

Hey thanks!! That's great! I had no idea they could be frozen. My big hope for eating better and Not eating things I shouldn't for me lies in having things handy and prepped....
I'll go see what the site says...and btw...how did you find such a thing??!

I think I searched for egg white refrigeration safety or something like that. The site has very good info on it.

I know what you mean about having things handy to grab to eat. -cks-
