Title: Commercials in general
Description: Best, worst, ones that make you crazy...

I know we've discussed this some place on the site but I can't find it. So, I'm restarting it here.
The worst commercials, in my opinion, are the "Have a happy period" ones. I can't tell you what product they sell but that tag line is just flat out stupid.
Now, I've got another one to add to the list of down-right stupid: California cheese. The talking cows were so-so. Until today. Now these cows are singing to the tune of the theme song from "Green Acres". It's hokey in the extreme but that wouldn't be bad if not for the end when this group of cows talk about "let's all eat some hay" while they're standing in the middle of a field of grass. There isn't a so much as a stalk of hay, cut or uncut, to be seen. It' s just idiotic.
There's also one that I'm finding hard to watch because it does its job too well. I believe it's for the humane society and shows a bunch of dogs in cages. The voice over says "I know how to fetch..." and a bunch of other things and then "What I don't know is how I ended up here". It flat out breaks my heart and I want to bring them all home and love them.
I swear, if I ever have the means, I'm going to rescue about a dozen dogs...

The Anti-Drug ad-campaign commercials. Don't get me wrong, the message of "Don't do drugs" is an important one to put out there, even if at some point the decision is up to the person who is offered the opprotunity to do them. They don't make any sense. Every last one of them that I've seen makes me want to go out and get some Acid just so I can understand them! I say that, of course, to make a point.
This goes hand in hand with wasting three hours of my life telling me drunk driving stories in Segment two, spend 1 hour on it (so instead of disregarding three hours teenagers will just be disregarding one) and give me a refresher course for what I need to know on the actual road test.
And any other commercial that makes no sense while we're at it, don't make a commercial that has nothing to do with your actual product that is forty-five seconds long and then just flash your product's brand name at the end of the commercial Its annoying, but apparently effective otherwise it wouldn't be done.
Also, I'm with you on the California Cheese commercials...I won't eat California cheese, I wouldn't eat it even if you paid me money to eat it, its California...If I want cheese I'll get some Wisconsin cheese or some bloody Swiss.

Mmmm.... Spanish cheese....
But ooh, I'm with you on the ads that have nothing at all to do with the product. I can't tell you what any of them are, because I never remember. But yeah, it has to work with somebody, or why would they make so many of them?
I'm rather fond of ads that make fun of ads for prescription medications.

Like the DOW commercial? The "Human Element" is all fine and good but it probably has nothing to do with whatever the hell DOW is/does/standsfor.

All those prescription medicine commercials confuse me. They don't tell what disease they are to cure, treat, or whatever.
I might want some of 'em.
Or I might find a new disease I don't already have.
I want more info!!

It doesn't happen often, but, every once in awhile I run across a cute commercial.
Well, it's not really all that cute, but it's not stupid and I love the tagline. It's for Gerber food. I believe they call it "In Between" or something like that. It's a step up from baby food. It's the tagline I love:
Steady Nutrition for a wobbly world.
How perfect is that for a product aimed at toddlers?

I pretty much hate all car commericals. Especially the one where the car falls down through the center of the earth and then flips over to remain on all four wheels on the either side. Just plain stupid.

Yeah, I'll agree with you on that one, Scarlett. Most car commercials tend to be on the stupid side, don't they?
