Salaam alaykum,

During Ramadan many women seem to dissapear... where do they go? The kitchen! Many people make every evening during Ramadan a feast, they eat a lot in the evening, more than they normally would, this is not the point of Ramadan, but when this happens in a household the women ofcourse have to make the food(usually) wich is a great burden for them, they could spend that time instead reading Qur'an, doing dhikr, praying, doing other good deeds or just simply contemplate on their lives and the state of their souls.

So, i thought to start a thread for these women, to give them some tips, that if they can't change their situations to give them some pointers on how to use their time in the best way so they can still benefit.

Sis Sammy, already gave a tip in another thread, she said she's going to make a whole bunch of snacks before Ramadan starts and she'll freeze them, and during Ramadan she'll take them out and all she'll have to do is fry them for her guests.

So please write all your tips down that you can think of and help your sisters.

Another one i thought of is they can do dhikr while they are cooking, i do this myself and find it very peaceful, that is if you're in the kitchen by yourself, if you got small children demanding your attention all the time then i think it wouldn't work!

wa Salaam.

Think of all the reward they get.....when cooking for all those people with an empty stomach.. It is a reward in it's own way i think....
Is there a hadith about that?

hmm...... onother tip would be to use paper cups, or plates on or the other or both.......to save dishwashing time.. (if the family is big)

Salaam alaykum,

The Prophet said: "He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, except that nothing will be reduced from the fasting persons reward." [Ahmad, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh].

Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without his reward being diminished at all." [Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah]

Great point! But this doesn't just apply to the person making it, right? Say the woman makes the food but the husband earned the money with wich the food was bought..... then doesn't the reward also go to the husband?

Great tips also about the paper plates... another thing i thought of is for people to encourage eachother to help out the mother/sister, whoever is mainly in charge of all the cooking and stuff or cleaning around the house, help that person out, the Prophet(saws) gave us the great example of helping out around the house, nowadays we still see everything is upon the woman and the man thinks it's not a manly thing to do..... the Prophet(saws) did it! There's no better man than him(saws)! Or the children can help out.

And make food that is easy and quick to make, if you have any great recipes you know where to put them! In the Yummie Recipe Section!

wa Salaam.
