Title: Categorizing Matches
Description: Why?

Having a wee arguement in the pub last night about why Hibs have Cat A and Cat B matches. The difference is that the cheapest tickets rise to £25 and from £20 and there are either no or very limited concessions (100 max). Cat A games are Rangers, Celtic and Hearts who'll sell the alocation of 4000 no bother with the Cat B games being all other SPL teams who, if your lucky bring 300-500 fans each (Except from Aberdeen who always bring a good support).

Anyway, my mate reckons we hike the prices up to cover the extra policing and stewarding require. I personally think that's bullshit seeing as a couple of times, a 'Cat B' game has had 3000+ away fans. IMO we're just taking adavantage of their large traveling supports as by adding that extra fiver on, is an extra £20k per game which adds upto an extra £120k per season.

So why do you think clubs categorize teams and matches? To cover extra policing and stewarding costs? Simply taking advantage of them? Because there are deemed to be better players playing or any other reason?

Is it only the away fans that have to pay the higher or lower prices depending on which category the game falls in or do the home fans have to aswell?

In my opinion they are just taking advantage of the fans for the games they know will definetly sell out even if they up the price a little.
