Title: Quietest Fans
Standupandsing - January 30, 2007 01:12 AM (GMT)
Who would you say are the worst fans to visit your ground and at their own place in terms of Noise and Numbers
Quietest Home fans - QPR
Quietest Away Fans - (Cant vote for your own team!!) Ipswich
Numbers- Stoke
red_rose - January 30, 2007 07:50 AM (GMT)
Quietest Home fans- Wigan
Quietest away fans- Fulham
Numbers- Fulham, they brought just over 100.
Blackcountry Villa - January 30, 2007 12:51 PM (GMT)
Quietest home fans - Fulham (We're quiet most of the time though unless it's a big game, we're playing well or winning just the same as most Premiership home fans)
Quietest away fans - Usually it's Fulham but this year i'd say it was Blackburn
Numbers - Blackburn, Fulham and Charlton. All of them had just the little section in the lower Witton Lane Stand (Doug Ellis stand) this season and none of them even came close to filling that, they all brought around 300/400
I hope this thread doesn't turn into a 'Our fans are the best in the world, your fans are shit' argument, it would be interesting just to see everyone's views and to see if the same teams keep cropping up
Utd 90210 - January 30, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
I would say that the quietest away fans at Old Trafford for one of the games I was at would be Wigan. They brought a very small allocation also.
Ashymark - January 30, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
wigan really were poor..for a local game the numbers that they brought was poor I cant remember hearing too many songs coming from those that were there either
Utd 90210 - January 30, 2007 02:25 PM (GMT)
They only really made a bit of noise after they scored that penalty in the last minute, prior to that I can't remember hearing them at all.
Steve - January 30, 2007 02:52 PM (GMT)
In League 2 apart from ourselves on a shit day the quitest fans this season were Peterboro - despite taking 500 which is more than most didnt hear them once.
Best fans this season were probably Barnet as only took 350 but kept going and Hereford who were singing a lot with about 350 as well. The lowest number of away fans was Bury - they took 110 it was a Saturday as well but it pissed it down. Oxford and Swindon both took 1800 but didnt make much noise
AndrewFFC - January 30, 2007 03:47 PM (GMT)
Quietest Home fans- Charlton
Quietest away fans- Boro
Numbers- Boro
Mark AFC - January 30, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
Home - Wigan - terrible
Away - Charlton and Everton

Surprising that you think Everton. To be honest i've never thought their fans were that good, they all sit down away and the atmosphere at Goodison has always been poor when i've been mainly due to them only having 3 songs but i wouldn't say they they were worse than Fulham, Blackburn etc.
Like i said though thats why this thread should be good as it is interesting to see fan's differing opinions
ben_afcb - January 31, 2007 03:11 PM (GMT)
Home- Bristol City (Library)
Away- Everton
Numbers- Boston United (brought about 60 or so fans)
Tom - Leigh RMI - January 31, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
Lancaster
Lancaster
and...
Lancaster
Although just A little dig for what its worth - I've been to the JJB 3 times this season all 3 times they were shit apart from when they were 2-2 with Chelsea surpise surpise.
Although I dont like Chelsea I had a cheeky grin on my face all the way home after seeing all the Wigan fans faces at FT!
chalky - January 31, 2007 04:31 PM (GMT)
Quietest home fans this season - Bournemouth (they were quite good but the other home fans I have seen this seen were better- Forest, Yeovil, Cheltenham and Swansea).
Quietest away fans- Brighton were very quiet considering their numbers; have to say them.

yerjokinarnyer we may have had no one there but you could hear us clearly!!!!!
deedbee - February 1, 2007 07:11 PM (GMT)
Boston were the quietest home fans. To be fair most sets of away fans have been good, but the two that stand out have been Plymouth and MK Donalds.
ATFC Martin - February 1, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
In the Conference I'd have to say
Quietest Home fans - Oxford United - They were top at the time and un-beaten and didn't hear a peep out of them until they scored 65+ mins in
Quietest Away fans - Too many to name.

Ipswich have good away support i think.
Reding have awful home support when we last visited.
Worst away would be Norwich they are bad
chalky - February 1, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)
In times like these I am not a great fan of all this quietest fans malarky. Ashton Gate for example can be an extremely indimidating place to come to (ask any rovers fans) but for most games it is seen as a library. I will give two reasons for this; 1: Stewarding (I strongly believe if we were left to do what we want it would be the loudest ground in division 3) and 2: Appetite (A lot of passionate fans aren't interested in watching the smaller games in the current climate!) Both can be linked as if the stewarding was relaxed then more of these fans would attend even the smaller games!
Mark AFC - February 1, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
The yids were piss poor yesterday considering as apparently they've got the best support in london( well that's what they say anyway) they had 5000 and i only heard them 4 times.Sheff UTD, man utd, pompey, newcastle all made more noise with smaller allocations.
Tamsen - February 2, 2007 01:02 AM (GMT)

thats your shite ground mate.
i went there earlier in the season and we sung all the way through and could'nt be heard
Ashymark - February 3, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
yeah...from what iv heard its supposed to be a really bad ground for getting a bit of atmosphere going
i thought they said it was designed with the atmosphere in mind

You last visited us on a Tuesday night, atmosphere was good as the game was a screamer.
And the time before that, you were 2-0 up before half time and it was a 5pm kick off on a Saturday; of course the atmosphere would be shit from us.

Don't think so, i was sat next to your lot and except for when you scored you made no noise.
Danh1 - February 4, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
Worst Home: Fulham/Man united - mainly due to the amount of people there.
Worst away: Charlton, Fulham, Bolton, Villa, Wigan, Tottenham (good numbers, no noise)

So you're saying teams like Blackburn have better away support than us? We took 1300 to SJP last week on a Wednesday night having won one game in 14, there are lots of teams who don't take that to Newcastle on a Saturday

I wasn't going on numbers, I was going on the amount of noise made, Tottenham had 2000.
Tanzo - February 7, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
Fulham, Blackburn and Bolton in terms of numbers and noise both home and away.
At home, I'd say the vast majority are poor, it's very rare I come across a loud set of home fans.
RolandFFC - February 7, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
You will not hear a peep from the fulham crowd. All the loud fans sit up the other end (Hammersmith) where Im told the accoustics are piss poor and not a thing can be heard from the other end. I agree though most of our fans are the most boring, quiet and second worst travelers in the league (after charlton). On our day though we can actually be quite loud in the Hammersmith end, just nothing ever gets heard. I know its the oldest excuse in the book, but trust me, you would never believe how bad the accoustics are.
Right enough excuses back to real matters
Worst home-Man City-absolute joke, and a hilarious one. They stand and look quite hard, but dont sing
Worst away-Spurs-good numbers, just dont sing
Worst travelers- Charlton brought 900 to us this season, and we took double to them. Both night games
Hiveoccupier - February 8, 2007 09:51 AM (GMT)
Worst away - MK Dongs they come in good numbers for Div 2 but I don't think they have worked out any songs yet :(

Are you mad, villa? they have one of the best, ditto spurs. Fulham do well for noise at london clubs
Agree with Roland, surprised tanzo went for us, we were good against n'castle 2nd half last week (before the goals aswell).
Accoustics must be poor, about 500 ca sometimes go ntus and i hear for a mate in the stoke end nothing is heard.
purpleronnie - February 8, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
I thought tottenham were good. Villa despite having lots of fans didn't sing very much.

 We hardly stopped singing at Leicester in the cup this year. Even after you scored your goals we still sang, the only time i remember us stopping was when we missed our last minute penalty because we were all gutted but then as soon as extra time kicked off we were singing again
stretford ender - February 10, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
Charltons support today was probably the worst i have ever seen/heard. Small Allocation, empty seats, all sat down and the only 2 songs i heard them sing were 'you're support is fucking shit' and 'shall we sing a song for you', very ironic. What makes it worse is that second half was the best atmosphere of the season at old trafford.
gooner1 - February 11, 2007 06:53 PM (GMT)
Wigan were terrible today, we weren't much better but thats what you expect at home games now. They took the smallest allocation anyone has had all season, I think they would have to be the quietest fans at the Grove this season IMO.
Tanzo - February 11, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
;) Nothing personal mate, just talking in general.
I think Fulham have only brought circa 500 max. fans to SJP since they got promoted.
AndrewFFC - February 11, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
Ah well hopefully itll grow, we have spent 20 years in the lower leagues, i think itll take time for a new generation of fans to come through.
ML - ITFC - February 11, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
Quietest home - Sarfend (I was a bit suprised by that).
Quietest away (this season) - Leicester (2 - nil up but pretty quiet).
