Does it still exist?

Would guess so, with some at least. Despite the low attendances generally yesterday, Coventry took about 3000 to Bristol, which is a cracking amount.

It does for us :D
Brilliant result, performance and atmosphere. Can't really get much better than that.

For smaller clubs yes most surely. I pray when we reach the 3rd round we get Man Utd away - it never happens and we get some mid table championship side like Luton and lose but its always exciting when the draw is made about who you could get.

The magic is still there for me! I hope for Leigh RMI to get to a decent round but a the dream for Woodley Sports continued as they beat us in the 3rd Q round. Still good to see teams like Tamworth who are having problems getting a good tie and getting the game on BBC - thats what its all about.

There is magic North of the border in the cup too! We beat Rangers 3-2! Tremendous stuff, could have been 4-0 to us at one point!

Yep I saw that result. Its good to see not Rangers and Celtic killing everyone.

I think there is still magic of the cup. Well at least for us (Aldershot) there is. We would never have taken just over 1000 to a league game and with selling 650 tickets before the FA Cup game we was estimating about 800 fans turning up and were extremely happy and surprised to hear there were 1000 travelling.
For little clubs there is still magic but perhaps not so much for big clubs against lower league teams.

Tom - Leigh RMI - January 9, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
Not just the FA cup I think it stand for all cup comps - this weekend Leigh RMI are travelling to Stevenage in the FA Trophy 2nd round and with the way things are it may be our biggest game for a while (unles we have a good FA cup run next season) so we're hoping for a 'gaint-killing' and would never dream of taking 30 fans to an away game but we are on Saturday!!

FA set a limit on the lowest amount a club can charge adults fans for the FA Cup. £15. :o
Just read that somewhere, unbelievable

DA Baracus - January 10, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
What?! A LOWEST amount to charge? Utter mince! They should have a HIGHEST amount clubs can charge, and £15 would be a good figuire for that. In Scotland for FA cup games, both clubs must agree the price which then applies to both and away fans for that tie, until the semi finals and the final which are all Hampden whereby the SFA set the price.

I wish Man Utd had charged us £15! We had to pay £36 for a game at 2 o clock on a sunday that was being shown on BBC, although we still took about 6000 so i suppose why daft people like me keep paying the prices they'll never change

Well Leigh RMI only charged adult's 10 quid for thier FA cup game...

Well maybe only applies to league clubs or something.
It does not suprise me at all if it was true though.

Peter SUSD - January 11, 2007 07:58 PM (GMT)
I love the FA Cup.
Whatever level you are at there's always that chance of fulfilling that dream, whther it be making it to the 1st round proper, drawing Man Utd away, getting to the final (& Europe) or winning the thing.

Assuming we beat Watford (we have to make these assumtions even if history says we shouldn't), West Ham will be 2 games from another semi final.

If Millwall could get to the final & into Europe without playing a Premiership team, so could probably half the league. With Rangers out, and avoiding Celtic in the draw, maybe a dozen Scottish clubs can dream of at least the final (& Europe).

The cup is all about dreams & the way the leagues have gone with only a handful of clubs having any chance of winning them, this makes the cups even bigger for the rest of us.

(and by the way, we paid only £12 for West Ham v Brighton - £15, less £3 for subscribing to automatic cup ticket scheme)

Steve - January 15, 2007 10:47 AM (GMT)
I am living the Carling Cup dream when we equaliased against Chelsea I went absolutley mental as did 8000 others in the ground with me. I will never foret the moment Easter poked the ball home and we drew with the Premiership Champions int the Semi Finals which I cant believe we have made. Only got 6100 tkts for away game which all went even before the draw at home and cant wait to go.

AndrewFFC - January 18, 2007 12:15 AM (GMT)
Not sure, likely when you win 4-3 though :D

Blackcountry Villa - January 18, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
Judging by the poor attendances at Man City (25,000 with 6000 away fans), Newcastle (26,000 with 400 away fans) and Fulham (11,000 with 3000 away fans) despite all having reduced tickets then i would say the magic of the cup is definitely dwindling

Steve - January 19, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
For the bigger clubs it probably is. Brighton took 5000 to West Ham, Villa took 5800 to Man Utd, 2000 Stockport to Watford and at night time 4000 Cardiff to Tottenham , Sheff Wed taking 6000 to Manchester and Leicester taking 3000 to Fulham shows for the smaller clubs it is a big deal and a good day out. Being underdogs is fun - and amazing if you win.

AndrewFFC - January 19, 2007 08:02 PM (GMT)
Of course it going to be low for wensday evening matches.

Leicester brought about 6x the fans did then boro from an monday evening premiership game.

Smaller teams love it, attendances can be lower but atmosphere tends to be abit better.

The Atmosphere was electric on Wednesday.
Best I think I've ever had and it was all down to standing IMO.
YOure support was, well, poor to be kind. Although I did notice a fair few standing in the opposite end, but not much noise.

We sung many more songs then you though, much more constantly too

I sometimes despair at fulham, walking round you can jus see the prawn sandwich bastards, middle aged men who have nmever sung in their lives written across their face

Worst thing is i had a kid in a chelsea hat in the row behing me the other games, another in a utd coat, fucking ridiculous.
