Title: When Can The Big Few Leave

I'm not happy with the state of football but I'm still hoping it will change, but if it doesn't hopefully the big 12/14 clubs will leave, the rest for us proper fans can enjoy football as it should be - competitive. I'm just wondering how long it will be till I actually hope this happens. They could do what they like with their hand picked clubs and then these clubs fans will start in the lower leagues under a different format like FC United. I fear my wish for this is not far away.

I would welcome that. Bring back Divisions 1/2/3/4 and have all the leagues run by the F.L (after giving them a complete overhaul though) with the teams that remain. There again I imagen it is easy for me and you to say Nick as both our clubs respectively would never get into the top league within the top league without a rich sugar daddy, but I doubt the proper fans of those clubs would want this.

So what happens to the decent United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal fans on here? I'm sure it wouldn't be a choice for them to go and follow FC United and the like..

Point taken but they could form under a different name or be allowed to have a team out of the Super 14 or whatever.

Just imagine the top teams being Boro, Bolton, Blackburn, etc and even we would be in with a chance of one day day winning the league. I guess I'll have to wait.

Oh sorry I forgot, unless your team drops down to 15th in the prem or below it classes you as a proper fan, terrific comment

I think these sentiments are shared by fans of probly 88 clubs... Well for now until the likes of man city and co get moving. Footballs changed alot, well the premierleague, from what i remember when we went down in 2003/04 and do i miss it, for some reason not at all

What annoys me about views like this, and I can understand them, is that they seem to think everyone that follows a successful club does so because they are successful.

It's like Liverpool, United and Chelsea don't actually have any local fans. Fans that follow them can't possible live local and be actually supporting their local side. It's not their fault that side just happens to be successful and one of the biggest in the world.

And believe me, we don't want all the hangers on that generates.

Just for the record if this happens we're not one of the big 12/14 clubs, teams like Boro', Fulham and Blackburn are much bigger. We'll stay with the rest... and win the league nearly every season ;)

i was having a big conversation yesturday with load of forest fans saying that this needs to happen because football is only going to get worse, if man city do what they said they are going to do how can any team par maybe chelsea compete, even united would find it hard to compete with that type of money, every single other club would be no where in any big deals, I would really welcome to see a super league come in and man utd chelsea liverpool arsenal and man city go to it, and let all the other clubs go for the league, and have a new european cup as all top teams would be in the euro super league, It would mean even our self west brom could maybe get into europe one year and many other clubs would have chances in cups. Football prices would drop as well i think because of the way that sky will buy the euro league and hardly spend on the prem, wages would drop and prices as well hopefully.

Don't you think if some european league comes about , we will just get another big 4 teams always winning stuff?

no i think their would be more teams involved who have a chance, obv you would get a few that dominant but feel it would be a lot more equal as all the top top players would go to the clubs in the euro super league.

Your a Chelsea fan from Stoke I think I'm right in saying  You follow your club everywhere but still

I apoligise to BHB I didn't mean all big team fans are not proper fans of their clubs. I was generalising too much and apoligise.

I dont know what I would like to happen. I just used the 12/14 super league as an example. Any suggestions would be great, but I just mean that in the future it might be for the best if there was some kind of seperation from Hollywood and reality.

Yep, Villa, Spurs, Everton and another. Just because 5 teams would be taken away from the Premier League teams like Albion still wouldn't win anything, this season they're going to finish 18th, 19th or 20th, taking 5 teams away would not mean Albion and the like get into Europe

i don't know why anyone would welcome this. everyone's saying "yeah, then we (insert team name here) might win the league." but why would you want to? where's the achievement in winning a semi-league with no liverpool or united? it would be a further ruining of the traditional football league setup yet you'd all welcome it just for the chance to get your hands on a bit of silverware.

If thats partly aimed at me then you'll find my posts were firmly tongue in cheek ;) Although how about a Chelsea v Man City mini league, they don't play matches they take it in turns to sign players and score points for whoever spends the most and gets the best player, thats basically how it will be anyway. Oh and Liverpool can go and join some other league, we'll cut Liverpool away from England and cast them off into the ocean seeing as they're Scouse, not English
