Title: A Reconmendation For Next Season

L.T.F.C - June 17, 2008 10:57 AM (GMT)
Is there a chance for next season that there can be part of the forum that is for banter and general discussions etc that can only be viewed by members who have signed up to the site. I doubt some of the threads (usually manu vs villa/England or politics)would give a good impression of SUSD to people who are thinking to join up and then get put off by some of those posts, so if there is a part of the forum for this that can only be accessed by members, and has a pretty much anything goes rules. It will prevent that from happening.

The main problem with this place is you might come across it as you're interested in the campaign, and then get the impression very little is going on.

Or get tough on any banter/digs/any other tench that is on the SUSD bit. As long as its all on the on the pitch board then I can't see it putting people off. In the end of the day if you don't want to read it, then don't go on there. But keep the SUSD board free of tench. Also on the 'match day experiences' thread if theres anything you want to debate then make a thread on the 'on the pitch board' as it'll just get deleted anyway.

Agree with that

Keep the ideas coming and I'll discuss with the people at Vital.

I agree. As long as it's kept out of the main forum I don't see the problem.

I don't think there's any need to make On the Pitch a private forum. Considering this place isn't particularly active a lot of the time, surely it will just give the impression to a someone visting for this first time that there's even less going on than there actually is.

Unless LTFC is suggesting two non-standing related football forums. One for nice clean discussion that won't put off any new members and a private one for more heated, rivalrous banter. That seems a bit ridiculous though and it's pretty arbitrary exactly what discourages people from reading the forum. If anything, at first some of the arguments I actually found a pretty interesting read. Most football forums now are so infected by JCLs and goons that it's a refreshing change to read some traditional banter, but yeah does get pretty tedious.

Actully I agree more with what Hodgson is saying. This part of the forum to be moderated strictly and solely for standing or any other problems that arise through match day, while the rest like on the pitch are more relaxed.

 Can just imagine logging on and thinking to myself, "right, am I in the mood for some gentle banter, or do I feel like some proper abuse today?"

I don't think the heated exchanges are problematic, as long as they're kept in the correct forum. Some of the Man United-Liverpool stuff has got a bit handbaggy at times, but to be honest I find it interesting. It's good to have a forum that is used by people who support a range of teams, disagree about a lot of things, but are united by the campaign for safe standing.
