Title: New Fl Ground With Terracing
Description: Rotherrham
unibee - May 29, 2008 08:58 PM (GMT)
It appears that the number of all-seater grounds in England has just gone down by one. Rotherham have seemingly had trouble with Millmoor, and so with immediate effect will be moving out to Don Valley Stadium.
http://www.themillers.premiumtv.co.uk/page...1321047,00.htmlI googled the Don Valley Stadium which appears to be in Sheffield, be an athletcis stadium with a 25,000 capacity (!) although Wikipedia says that of this 15,000 spaces are 'open terracing'. Interesting stuff, though I suppose it is too much to hope that any of this will actually be open.

By open terracing I think they mean open as in with no roof. I think it's all seater. Looking at the images on the Don Valley website would suggeast it is all seater!

Worldstadiums.com says it's all-seater.

It's definitely all-seater. :(
By open they mean seating that's uncovered. The only covered part is the grandstand on one side.

Yep, definitely an all-seater. Been to watch York City Knights there against Sheffield Eagles. It's a nice stadium, for athletics... Its not great for rugby/football though, feels like your miles from the pitch.

Just looks like steps to me. I'm pretty sure its all seater.

So basically it's going to be a Darlington sized ground, with Darlington sized attendances, a great big running track around it and no roof on most of the stadium. It'll sure be rocking ;)

Yeh it's going to be ridiculous. Was watching the local news and the reporter asked the executive director (or someone) whether he was worried they were gunna to lose the intimate atmosphere. He said slightly but in other ways the Don Valley Stadium can provide a better 'match day experience'. How did I know that was coming?!

Looks terrible. Feel sorry for the Rotherham fans, that club really is in a mess. I went top Brighton at the end of last season and I wont be back there till they move ground, the view was terrible and no roof meant the atmosphere was rubbish.
How long are Rotherham gonna be there?
