Title: Ricky Hatton Fight
Amo - May 25, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
Although it was not a football match I would like to report that the majority of the North Stand lower level and the South Stand lower level (as well as the pitchside seating) were all standing throughout the Hatton fight.

yeah looked to be a load standing like, boxing and darts are coming close to football for atmopshere and standing i think.
like when i went to the darts i'd say 75% stood in the balcony seats, good numbers

It seems standing is allowed at all events except football. Theres always standing at the darts, there was standing at the Boxing last night, there were thousands standing when i went to see Oasis at COMS. You never see the stewards wading in and asking people to sit or throwing them out

Ah but those aren't "family days out" are they?

FLA's answer to this is that at a concert (and presumably boxing) there is a fixed point of action, whereas at football the point of action moves around the pitch, and that a standing spectator straining to see the action could fall forward, causing a domino efffect.
Exact wording is in the notes from the meeting Amanda & I had with the FLA (on our website).
Not really worthy of comment is it.

What about rugby?
Amanda - May 26, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
Ah, but Rugby chaps have a different profile to football supporting thugs, don't you know old Chap?
I've heard - but have yet been unable to substantiate - that the BTP make more Rugby related arrests than they do football.

I had a meeting with the blackburn safety guy a few months back and he was going on about when rugby games are at Ewood they can let fans take beer to their seats an let them stands because they are better behaved than football fans was what he said.
Absolute load of tenche.
