Title: Well Done Eufa
Description: or more probably Platini

Must say I loved the fact that the trophy presentation last night went back to basics.
So much better to see players climb stairs and lift the cup, than on the pitch with a load of fireworks.
It was also done with dignity as well and without the need for some prick to constantly scream over the microphone.
Also thought that the stadium - noise wise - was fantastic.
In all a lesson - which will no doubt be ignored- to the vile orchestrated mess that was the FA cup final; an event which again managed to stifle a 90,000 crowd into obscurity.

Awesome stadium I thought. Love ground like that, it's the Stadio Olimpico next year, which is similar.
The music played when they lifted the trophy was appropriate I thought. I mean if they have to play music, at least it wasn't some band playing their tenche song, but it was traditional Russian music which I suppose was fitting in a way.

Nice stadium, I was in the chelsea end and yanited sounded great 1st half, as you can really appreciate it from the other end. I thought they played too much music before the game far too loud with that twat off of the italia football shouting about how that atmosphere was building, not where I was as you could hardly hear yourself think!
On a train out of stansted now, not seen a bed since I got out of mine on tuesday morning. So glad to leave the airport and moscow in general, the russians are a trouting bunce of retards. They hold everything off for hours as they must "follow procedure" then when they realise that waiting for this procedure has delayed everything they just let everyone do what they want, I could have taken anything onto the planes. As for the TC flights out of moscow, what a trout up!

The music was subtle, unobtrusive and actually quite nice!
These little things makes such a difference IMO. I lost count of the amount of times I had to turn the channel over when the FA cup final becaue of:
* National anthems and Abdie with me ruined - yet again- by two bints who should be at the Covent Garden Royal Opera House, not wembly.
* A PA system that would wake up a profoundly deaf dead person
* The crass mentioning of EON at every oppurtunity.

I went there to watch England and the atmosphere in the England end was pretty poor despite the England fans attempting to raise it. This for some reason numbers apart did not affect the Russian support. I noticed after a time that there were microphones suspended above the Russian support and the sound was being played back through speakers.

If you're referring the James Richardson...how dare you! The man is a legend. Probably one of my biggest heroes in the world of football.

Agree with everything posted-
1. the music was fitting. When they lifted the trophy I was really hoping 'Chelsea Dagger' wasn't gonna start blaring out like in the UEFA Cup. Going up the stairs is really good too. I like Platini, I think he has the right ideas, but he is fighting agaainst one hell of a rival - money.
2. James Richardson is indeed a legend. I love his dry sense of humour.
3. Katherine Jenkins is stunning, the best of the best. I certainly dont have a problem with her singing at the cup final.

Even at the expense of the sound of 90,000 fans?

The stadim is very good, it looks traditional from the outside, the only downside is the track round the outside, but still better than we can come up with in this country.
It was also good not hearing the PA bloke constantly talk tench down the microphone and the music was traditional.

atmosphere, presentation and game were spot on last night. Shame we still have arses such as Drogba diving and running 100 yards to slap people in the face to spoil it. Anyone to blame then its him?
yorkiebarkid - May 22, 2008 04:14 PM (GMT)
tbh apart from the MAJOR balls up getting back out of Moscow at the airport the entire day was spot on logistically from the Russians. Can't say I came across a Russian who was not happy to help if asked (normal people as well as police and staff)
Friendly as well having a laugh with the plod and army as we made our way to the ground drinking right outside the fan zones with no mither.
Amanda - May 22, 2008 05:03 PM (GMT)
Yorkie, glad to hear it and I think a fair few of us were eating their words today.
I also wonder if the two Russian soldiers got their caps back.. good scene on the terraces of two Man Utd supporters (both had rather large beer guts, do you know them?!) wearing said caps with the two soldiers putting on their Man Utd tops over their uniforms. That is what it is all about...
Oh and more people wearing brand new Utd tops today in London than I've seen for a long old while...
yorkiebarkid - May 22, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
Don't know them no, but most of the army people in there were laughing and joking and taking pictures.
I hold my hands up and say I was completely sold by our media and the scare stories of the place - basically just like any other big old city in Europe.
Only strange thing was this Asian fella in plan clothes but had black leather gloves on and a red armband on in the ground - he was obcessed with keeping ilses clear (far enough) but he had no ID but it was obvious he was working for the stadium/ plod.
He looked like one of them serious fellas with the olympic tourch
Standupandsing - May 22, 2008 05:37 PM (GMT)
Stadium looked brilliant with one huge, single tier around it. Very impressive.
Not quite sure on the tittle being done in the stands, but I very much liked the fact that there were no sponser signs around the stand that they collect the trophy from or sponser draps hanging off the trophy.
Platini seems like a decent bloke, certinaly better than barwick or similar.

I thought the stadium was decent - the fact there were no police/army in riot gear helped... as for not getting in the ground if drunk well no one took any notice of that...
It was great to not have stewards constantly telling you to sit down....
Obviously gutted at the end but until them it was a top trip...
OnTheJib - May 24, 2008 05:25 PM (GMT)
Uefa did well actually.
NO serious jibbing problems as everyone had a ticket.
Great result too :D
