So Derby, the joke which is, earnt £29M last season. Next season we'll be in their division and our chairman is talking about us dealing with major money as our TV revenue has gone up from £0.4M to £1.5M with promotion.
Wish us look wont you with trying to compete :)

Some interesting and thought-provoking numbers.
Derby County earned more money than Stuttgart(German champion) in their season last year(£20.6m). A total of £318m is split among the 36 teams of 1. and 2. Bundesliga. The number will increase in the next TV agreement though.
It's quite interesting that the English teams playing in the UEFA Cup haven't got that huge success(despite their money) in the competiton compared to the the teams in the Champions League. In Germany we use to say "money doesn't score goals". Apparently, this saying does not apply for the Champions League(not only in England).

Crazy to think that Utd's TV money could clear Gillingham's current debt 12 times over!

If it makes you feel any better it won't make much of a dent in ours

Why isnt it split evenly?

Our game is fcked at every level. The "China market" is seen more important than the fans who have followed the club through thick and thin.

I think TV money from all televised league games should be put together and split equally based on your division. Say £20M for all Div 1 teams. £12M for all Div 2 teams, etc. It would would go some way to closing the gap, but oh no, we love you big 4 we do, we love you big 4 we do, oh our predictable league we love you.

Wasn't suprised tbh. Its a disgrace while clubs who maybe need a few hundred grand in the lower leagues are going bust, but theres not a lot we can do about it, after all we leave in a capitalist society.

Thing is, all clubs live to their means, and some well beyond them. It's all relative.
United may bring in £50m from TV money and even more again from gate reciepts - but they also have £60m interest repayments to make on their debts and far bigger wages to pay to players etc.
Only way it'd ever stop is if their were salary caps put in place and money fed down to the lower leagues. But there's no way the big clubs will agree to it. They get so much money from the CL and TV they'd never give that up.
One of the big 4 drop out of that big 4 and stay out of it for a couple of years, they'll be in big, big financial trouble.

As a United fan, I would be more than happy for all the money to be split if it meant there was a block on takeovers.
It definitely works both ways - we were rich so we are an attractive business for any tycoon. As a result we are now in debt and facing yearly interest repayments to make (which if reports are to go by, are increasing) before the debt itself can be touched.
If it wasn't glazer who came in, someone else probably would have.
I wish the big governing bodies - FIFA/UEFA, would put a salary cap across the whole of the world, so then that extra money can be to keep the ticket prices down and put back into the club or whatever.
Wouldn't happen though, the F.A can't really put a salary cap as it would just mean that the top players would sign abroad. Would have to be a wider thing.

United are in serious trouble due these TV deals as they attracted the Glazers etc
We have gone from the only profitable club to one which can't even pay Interest repayments even though we make the most money in world football.
I see FC United are making a lot more friends.

Doesn't surprise me hugely. English clubs haven't been dominant in the Champions League for that long - only in the last 3/4 years have we regularly been seeing English representatives in the final. One of the main reasons for the more recent English dominance in that the same teams (Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal) keep occupying the top four positions year in year out, so keep building their resources and reputations. There aren't many big leagues that show that level of consistency in terms of the Champions League entrants they provide.
The UEFA cup spots, on the other hand, seem to change hands more regularly. Everton and Tottenham have finished in the top 5 in recent years, but neither has convincingly cemented a long-term position at the top of the table. So whilst these teams are supposed to be the 'best England has to offer' in the UEFA cup, they're pretty inexperienced and ill-prepared for European competition.
Also, it's worth noting that both Tottenham and Everton went out on penalties this season. They could well have gone further - I think that both clubs would have fancied their chances against Rangers.

Champions league money that British clubs earned from the 06/07 season.
Team:____________Amount(£)
Celtic_____________12,480,000
Chelsea___________27,600,000
Liverpool__________25,700,000
Man Utd___________25,100,000
Arsenal___________15,200,000
You get something like 9x more money for getting to the same stage of the Champions League as you do for the Uefa Cup.

Would be interested to see the Championships equivalent....Did the Times do anything similar?
