Title: Oh For F*cks Sake
Description: Why!

Free ClappersReally why the trout do we need these for an atmosphere, they had them at Fulham and I think I heard about 3-4 songs all game, interspersed with about 19000 people doing their best seal impression with a cardboard fan

 Oh jesus. In all honesty though it is a sad day for your support which used to be very good, completely diluted nowadays though. You should all just leave them on the seats and refuse to use them

That's what I plan to do, I can honestly see a few being thrown if things aren't going well. Annoyingly there will definately be a few daytrippers there, apparently we've nearly sold out.

If its what they had at Fulham its like a fold up fan type thing that makes a clapping noise as you close it (that's what it looked like anyway, it might be simpler)

Worse thing is some fans are actually praising the club for
Helping to improve the atmosphere

    Things like this make me angry.
WHY WHY WHY WHY
People have hands and a mouth they use them to make noise. Nothing else.
Another club which had that intimidating atmosphere has now jumped on the Reading and Fulham happy clappy bandwagon (no offense to the PROPER fans of these two teams like the people who post on here)
Best bet for you is just not use them of course you gonna have some thinking it is great but fck them.
Clappy sticks or no clappy sticks they are not going to keep you up.
Gunner Michael - May 8, 2008 03:51 PM (GMT)
Heh. Generate a stirring atmosphere with... clapperboards. You just couldn't make it up.
When you compare the atmosphere generated at Birminghams first Premiership derby against Villa in 02/03 at St Andrews to the atmosphere they seem to create today for the derby, it is very sad the way their support has gone.
BWA_Ultra - May 8, 2008 04:57 PM (GMT)
Not so bad if given to the youngsters but even then I'd prefer the youngsters to be shown the old way to support your team.
When I started going I used to stand in our family enclosure but I'd stand as close as I could to the barside(vocal section) and join in with the songs.
stretford ender - May 8, 2008 05:15 PM (GMT)
Unlucky pal, them things really are a joke.
Bluenose87 - May 8, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
This has got to be possibly the worse time to do this kind of thing if anytime is good at all. I can really see this going badly if things aren't going well on the pitch or results aren't going our way elsewhere.
I can see it now though, Blues win and Fulham and Derby draw but we get 3 points deducted and get relegated off the back of it because one of those clapper things get thrown into some Blackburn players face when he's taking corner or throw in.
Typical Blues though isn't it:ph43r:

How is it gonna work anyway? They're putting out 20,000 for a near sell out, meaning 5-7000 aren't gonna have any, they just missing out random seats or what?

We had those balloon type clapper things for one games but fortunately for us they we're tench and either teared or popped after about 2 minutes.
The club has not issued them again since.
Blackcountry Villa - May 8, 2008 08:16 PM (GMT)
One one hand i think it's hilarious and it's yet another thing in a long list that Blues have done that we can ridicule them about but on the other hand it just makes me realise how sh!t and plastic modern day football really is

Even if Tottenham were doing this I wouldn't find it funny as this kind of bollocks is affecting us all.

Yeah I find it hard to raise a smirk about stuff like this even if it's happening at a club I hate because I know soon or later Leicester will think it's a trouting marvellous idea and I'll be laughing out of the other side of my face.

Replace Tottenham with Arsenal and you've got my view.
Blackcountry Villa - May 9, 2008 12:55 PM (GMT)
The most shocking thing to come out of this imo is their board aren't charging the fans for them, it's unlike the Porn Dwarf and the Slag to give things away
L.T.F.C - May 9, 2008 01:08 PM (GMT)
So your saying if it was not for those cardboard clappy things you wouldn't of sung at all.
Doesn't say much about you support then.

Wycombe handed them out for Cheltenham home and away in the play offs in 2006 and it was a joke. Loads of kids just clap them together when ever they feel bored (and watching us thats all game) I really hate the blow horns handed out for kids it ruined our Semi final with Liverpool all you could hear was a dull drone of hooters all game and was pointless and created no atmosphere - if kids need something during a game to keep the entertained then they shouldnt be at football.

BHB - May 9, 2008 08:42 PM (GMT)
When we went to Birmingham in their first season back in the top flight, it was one of the most intimidating grounds I'd been too. Close knit, LOUD, passionate and raw probably the best way to describe it. Really moody outside as well, and a few bits of trouble the first few times we went there.
Now it's nothing like that. How can it change so drastically in less than 5 years?
This latest sketch is just the icing on the cake.

That first Fulham vid is quite good, looked like alot of standing + they let the lil kids stand down the front with no bother. Asume it was coz it was last game.
Just further goes to show the ridiculous rules with standing and reasons againt it in this country.

Wasn't too bad, but the clappers kept on drowning out the singing, which isn't helpful when you're trying to get more people to sing. Was getting very annoying towards the end, the amount of people just inanely clapping throughout the game starts to grate after a while
watermelon man - May 12, 2008 01:06 PM (GMT)
To be fair, at least they didn't give out those stupid
