Title: £35 For Me To Watch San Marino!
LinfieldFC - May 6, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
I don't post on these forum often but thought it would make a good place to moan about the following. I have been a regular attendee at Northern Ireland home matches for 22 years and have received an email today from the Irish Football Association outlining the price structure for the next set of qualifiers: they are charging £185 for the 5 games (that's a 40% price increase in price from the last set of qualifiers that incuded one game more!) On an individual level, the game against San Marino, an exculsively part time side, has been set at a cost of £35!
To put it into context I paid £6 to get into a home game against Yugoslavia just seven years ago  Plus anyone who has ever been to Windsor Park will know it's rather small and delapidated thse days.
Ah well, at least it will please the large element of our fanbase who wear jester hats to matches and spend the game taking photographs, those people who can't name our manager before Sanchez or any of the current crop of players other than Davis and Healy

So its essentially the equivalent of a Premiership team playing a Conference team and you have to pay as much or even more than a Prem game
I suppose San Marino won't bring many fans, what with a population of 31,00

more like a 2nd division club playing a lower non-league club for £35. trouting excessive to say the least.

Are you still likely to sell Windsor Park out?
Perhaps the IFA are wanting to clean the football image up a bit, i.e getting rid of the union flag and red flag waving fans by pricing them out?

It seems like their ripping you off because they cant get many into Windsor Park. I suppose they have to make as much as they can, but thats a disgrace.
Wish you all the best. I'll never forget Wales V NI in 2004 at the Millenium Stadium, your fans were incredable. I dont think I'bve ever seen anything like it, I spent half the game watching them.

Wales haven't released ticket details yet, but the prices are sure to start at far cheaper than that, and family tickets normally start at around £10-15 for adults.
Mind you Wales have a much bigger ground to fill. It's annoying that the IFA are cashing in on your support in recent years and the fact that Windsor Park is quite small.
Is the increase being suggested that it will help pay for a new stadium?

At least you can go to the game safe in the knowledge that NI will win!

The last Wales game I went to was against the Czech's, they didn't do student prices so I had to pay £22.50 and sit in silence. I decieded after that I was not going back until the prices drop by at least half, or there is a singing section where people persistantly stand. Both would be nice, but I'm not going back till there's one of them.

Sounds like Wembley, I paid £40 to sit in the 3rd tier v Germany.
I decided £40 was too much and even £30 was too much but I would pay £30 if I could get into the small singing section, however I believe those tickets are £50.
combined with the price to get into London, and the the majority of fans who go I just feel it is a waste of money.

At the other end of the scale, Motherwell have reduced prices for everyone to £5 tomorrow anywhere in the ground (home and away). Aberdeen are subsidising all of the buses too. Bus and ticket for £15 B)
