Nikki James Benson, 19, of Whitley Road, Collyhurst, Manchester and Kyle Buckley, 18, of Manchester Road, Droylsden, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a direction given by a police officer to leave the area and not return.
They were both fined £50 with £65 costs and made subject to football banning orders for three years.
The court heard that both men got off a train at Darwen where they were confronted by police officers.
Acting on intelligence provided by Greater Manchester Police, both men were ordered to leave and put on the next train back to Manchester.
But they got off in Bolton and returned in a taxi.
They were arrested when they were seen near the ground. Neither had a ticket. |
Yep, because that is really what banning orders are for, isn't it?
Are they going to appeal?
LongtonLeeds - May 1, 2008 11:31 AM (GMT)

FOOTBALL fans have appeared before Blackburn magistrates after being arrested for a number of unrelated on the day of the match between Rovers and Manchester United.
In total, more than 60 fans were arrested as more than 300 police officers mounted a massive containment operation before, during and after the 1-1 draw.
The court, which had dealt with another group of fans the previous day, heard that the police action resulted from widespread violence during the corresponding fixture last season.
Christopher Bell, 40, of Hyde, Cheshire, was remanded on bail charged with assaulting a police officer and being drunk and disorderly in Jubilee Street.
Christopher Mark Dearden, 23, of Runcorn, admitted a breach of the peace and was bound over in £200 to keep the peace for 12 months. A charge of being drunk and disorderly in the Fernhurst pub was withdrawn.
Mark Anthony Fitzgerald, 19, of Stretford, was bound over in £100 to keep the peace for six months after admitting a breach of the peace. A charge of being drunk and disorderly in the Fernhurst public house was withdrawn.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Ashley Hayes, 21, of Manchester, when he failed to appear to answer a charge of being drunk and disorderly inside Ewood Park.
Postman Michael Joseph O'Shaughnessy, 32, of Crumpsall, Manchester, was fined £150 with £75 costs after pleading guilty to being drunk and disorderly on Blackburn railway station.
O'Shaughnessy became aggressive when he was challenged by police and called an officer a "jumped up little Hitler." He eventually had to be sprayed before he could be restrained.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Robert Robbins, 31, of Bearley, Stratford-Upon-Avon, when he failed to appear to answer a charge of being drunk and disorderly in the Golden Cup pub.
Darren Hopper, 19, of Droylsden, was fined £100 with £75 costs after pleading guilty to encroaching on the playing area.
The magistrates rejected an application for a football banning order after hearing Hopper had got carried away with the heat of the moment when United scored a late equaliser and found himself on the pitch.
* Alan Michael Currell, 45, of Hatfield, Hertfordshire, was remanded on bail after pleading not guilty to being drunk while entering Ewood Park.
Steven George Delfinis, 46, of Stretford, was remanded on bail after pleading not guilty to using threatening behaviour.
John Hampson, 34, of Manchester, was remanded on bail after pleading not guilty to being drunk and disorderly inside Ewood Park and assaulting a police officer. |

They were the ones that kept the match at 5.15 and then nick people for being drunk. Not that I want an earlier kick off, but if they were that concerned about trouble happening, and that bothered about preventing trouble they could have put it on earlier with relaxed policing. All it did was inflame a situation that wasn't there in the first place.

| So where does the club penalty of the £1000 fine apply for entering the field of play? Why are the Utd away fans allowed to stand in a seated terrace at every ground they attend? All other fans in this country are constantly reminded of the apparent ground safety rules and usually ejected for persistently standing. Yet again the failure to enforce a couple of basic rules sends out the wrong message and costs the clubs for 300 extra police officers in attendance to mop-up the unruly mob ignorant lightweights. |
Had a laugh reading them last night but this was the funniest. What hooligans!!
Like no-one else stands and like our fans don't get ejected at OT for standing or get reminders of the rules.

Just listening to an interview with William Gaillard.
Said that anyone who tries to get in whose drunk will not be let in. Very much doubt if that'll happen. What does he expect you to do for 7 or 8 hours before kick off?
Also advised fans not to travel ticketless as the russians are very strict on anyone trying to get in the ground without a ticket.

I'm curious to see what its going to be like in Moscow, because you've got Red Square, and whenever english teams go abroad its just a habit to gather in large crowds in the main squares and drink/sing etc, but they're sayin that its illegal to drink or smoke in Red Square........
And after all last years events at the final, i'm making sure I get to the ground at least 2 hours before kick off, scousers or no scousers, never trust uefa

I'm quite anxious about this. I don't have a ticket and was intending on watching the game in a pub in Wigan. Has Cup Final last season written all over it - police shut pubs and fans wandering around getting frustrated because they have nowhere to watch the game.

Be fine, just need to walk a bit further out of the town centre.
And with the police, just need to be really careful.

Some good news from today.
My mate, Marcus Webster was found guilty of either drunk and disorderly or public order (the policewoman couldn't make up her mind) last april. He appealed which was ajourned in july so he was in court today.
I was one of his four witnesses, supposed to be giving evidence. But we were hanging around until about half 10 this morning when we were told the had prosecution dropped the charges after seeing the character witnesses that we had. (none of us had, had any convictions/clean driving licences etc) The only bit of evidence the prosecution had was the word of the policewoman who arrested him, so they thought it was ridiculous going ahead with it after reading all the evidence.
So really pleased, although it was an absolute joke it got this far in the first place.
My mate also today showed me the statement made by the policewoman. It was about a page long and full of absolute bollocks. He's gone through and circled bits of it and wrote what actually really happened.

Great to hear.
Dont care what club you support, putting one on the old bill and the courts is something we can all celebrate.
Just goes to prove, dont make their lives easy and you have a chance.
