Title: Notts County -robin Bloody Hood ?
pete - April 25, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
We play Notts County tomorrow in which is a huge game for Notts (we are already in the play offs) if they lose and other results go agains them they could be in the relegation zone for the last match next week. To encourage more County fans the usual away end the huge Kop stand (holding 5200) will be given to County fans. What really annoys me is that Wycombe fans have been moved to a side stand and will pay £16 while all County fans and many JCL, face painter one match a season wonders will get in for just £5. If they give massive discounts for their fans why not us. We have always done £1 a kid and offered it to away fans and even our free match v Chester a few years ago we gave free tickets to all Chester fans. I would have been sorry to see them go before but not now. Scumbags.

I agree completely, this shouldn't be allowed. I live in Nottingham and know someone from Wycombe who was thinking of going, but isn't gonna bother now.

In the season we got relegated from the Championship this happened to us twice, where home fans got reduced rates, but away fans didn't. Surely it must be illegal.

I think the rules state that there must be at least some home fans paying the same price as the away fans. But it's quite easy to find loopholes with that rule, e.g. only charging full price for a single block.

I think the rule is that you can't charge away fans more than home fans for equivalent seats/standing. So Notts County can get away with it, because away fans are being move to the side stand, and it's only a fiver in the ends.

We did something similar to this when we played Barnsley....Their fans protested and only 600 turned up. Their club also did exactly the same for when we went to their place! Maybe you should contact your CEO about it pete.... ;)

That's pretty bad. The rule says only that away supporters shouldn't pay more for 'comparable accomodation'. A good rule in theory, as some clubs used to have different pricing structures for home and away supporters (eg. I 'think' it used to be more in the away end at Scarborough than the home end, even though the stands are virtually identical).
In this case, given most of your stand will be for home supporters, who will pay £16, NC have complied with the rule. This is one of the key problems for away supporters, who only get a small part of each ground, and if it is the most expensive part, then tough.
I wonder maybe if the FSF should start a campaign whereby the away supporters pay the LOWEST price that home supporters do, this would cut out a lot of the nonsense.
