tench atmosphere's.

i know your not supposed to do this but i always here about how good european fans atmospheres are but what clubs fans have tench atmosphere, just curious for instance in england mk dons has tench atmosphere, same with wigan and reading (no dissrespect) but what european clubs have tench atmosphere's? sorry if its a stupid question.

A bit ambiguous but i've never taken to the European atmosphere. It sounds odd, for example when they score a goal they're more like an 'AHHHHH' (bear with me) than a 'YYEEESSS' that British teams have. I'm assuming that's because of the language difference though. British teams always sound much more solid as well, but i'm putting that down to the distances from the pitch. Anyway, just never really liked it.

When i went barcelona i thought the atmosphere was awful, just loud when they score and go 'gooooooooooaaaaalllllllllllll'. However at schalke it was awesome, loudest atmosphere i've ever heard

With massive stadiums such as Camp Nou I suppose it's very difficult to get any unity going in songs. Not to mention the influx of day trippers etc. Another reason not to move <_<

Although it pains me to say it but at our level there our clubs with worse atmospheres than MK Dons. Rochdale and Mansfield spring instantly to mind!

I wonder why in Spain they don't go SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII (as in 'si' being the spanish for 'yes'). Would sound weird as trout!

In the likes of Italy they react a lot less to incidents on the pitch than they do in England i think. Don't like that.

And in Spain they're nearly silent all the time except for when they score or when someone from their own team makes a mistake and they start getting on his back by whistling.

purpleronnie - March 12, 2008 08:27 PM (GMT)
Not sure about silent seen a few seville matches atmosphere always good.

"WHY DO SPANISH FANS MAKE WEIRD NOISES?

"Why do Spanish fans go 'Eeeeeeee!' when a shot goes wide instead of 'Ooooohhh!' like the rest of us?" asks Keith Stokes. "And when a goal is scored they all go 'Aaaaahhhh!' unlike the rest of Europe who opt for the more traditional 'Yeahhhhh!' Someone should tell them they sound ridiculous."

According to Antonio Gonzalez, a man whose word we're prepared to take as gospel for the simple reason that he has the most Spanish sounding name in the world, the reason is simple. It's because Spaniards speak Spanish, not English.

"What we say when a shot goes narrowly wide is normally 'Huy!' (pronounced 'Oo-ee!')" he explains. "It happens to be the Spanish equivalent of 'Ooh!' which you English exclaim in that mixture of surprise, relief or disappointment to see the shot go wide. The lingering 'y' produces that 'Eeeee!' sound that has confused you so. When a goal is scored, the roar that you hear as 'Aaaahhh!' is nothing other than 'Gol!', an anglicism used in Spanish for 'Goal!'. How inappropriate, eh?"

David Lea backs up Antonio's explanation and adds that many Spanish people have asked him the same question in reverse about English fans: "Why do you shout something that sounds nothing like 'Goal!' when you score?" they enquire. Now who sounds ridiculous, Keith?"

I've been to the Nou Camp and the atmosphere was awful, only had 2 songs and they drifted away. There were 77k there but it was as bad as a division 4 atmosphere.

German crowds always sound good on TV, wonder why
Cant really expand on that.
