Title: Barnsley
Description: How many injuries?

RobT - March 8, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
Motty commented that the whole ground was standing. He didn't seem that appalled either.

I'd love to know how many injuries occurred as a result.

lol yeh was pleased to hear him say that. Even mentioned the directors box was on their feet!

yeah it was one of them moments where he got carried away lol and just bursted out 'everyone is standing............ everyone around me and even in the directors box'

fair play to him but he is supporting these criminals who stand :ph43r:

He said it as if he was suprised.

Has he never seen people standing up and enjoying themselves at a football ground before.

Was glad to hear him mention it. He said it in a sort of way that implied that standing is directly linked to passion/atmosphere/fun/big occasions....etc.

Exactly, good shout. We should try to get him on board! After seeing (and seemingly not objecting to) a whole ground standing at a moment of extreme excitement, how could he argue that a limited section not be allowed to stand all game - which inevitably would include more passive phases of play and in no way could be considered dangerous.

Then again he does get more excited (verging on immature child) about the perennial 2 horse title race, than he ever did back when football was competitive so who knows what goes on in that head.

I hope they have a witch hunt for the scum who went on the ptich, every single one of them should be banned for 3 years for going on the field of play

It's not on

I have to admit even I managed a smile when I saw the pitch invasion. Football how it should be at the end of the day.

Great game to be honest. What football is all about from start to finish. :D

I was at Barnsley and it was a good atmosphere. In my opinion it was aided by the fact that in many parts of the ground people were standing. There was no interference from the stewards or police and no announcements made telling people to sit down.

A good old fashioned barn storming FA Cup tie and fair play to Barnsley they deserved their win.

The only thing, apart from the result, that I could moan about was the eardrum bursting music that was blasted out pre match, at half time and when Barnsley scored. Both sets of fans were standing and singing before the match and were completely drowned out by the idiot working the PA system. I know this is a common occurrence at many grounds but it was particularly loud at Oakwell.
With it being such a big game it would have been good to let the fans be heard a bit more !

I don't think there was anything on the telly on Saturday evening as street after street turned out to "wave "at our coaches on the way back to Doncaster to get the train !!

propper cup tie, brilliant

did anyone see the slightly 'large' lady running on the pitch holding her handbag?? was classic, she was so happy. great to see every type of fan totally into it and celebrating

The guy on the PA was an absolute drip. I thought he was gunna burst into tears when all their fans ran on the pitch. Haven't got a problem with it myself. Personally I like to see a good old pitch invasion. I thought it was a bit harsh the way the stewards were wrestling people out of the ground for running on the pitch after they scored. Show some common sense for god sake, it's a massive match.

I was about to post the exact same thing about the music before the match. The ground was pretty much full with 30mins still to go until kick off, and everyone was up for singing, but you couldn't even hear yourself speak over We Will Rock You, and other rubbish.

It was the same at Wycombe away last year. Let the fans create the pre match atmosphere!!

I don't think they have TV's in Yorkshire either, as every house we went past their fans were out in their gardens staring at us. Have they never seen a coach before?

Fair play to Barnsley though, they deserved it.
