'A season with Verona' is good.

I'll second that.

Brilliant book. Really good at describing why people follow a team so passionately and irrationally.

Are there any good books about english football fans, particularly of the 70s and 80s out there?

Or are there any books on old football stadiums??

Atalanta and Verona are "little teams" but very good fans.

Brigate Neroazzurre and Brigate Gialloblù did really the history of the italian ultras movement.

This is the book about the Fossa dei Leoni og Milan...another great group !!

But england didnt have a supporters group culture like the ROW, so the only books your likely to find are hooligan books.

I have read a wondeful book about English fans. It is: "Faith of Our Fathers" Alan Edge.

This is the book about the supporters of Mantova:

There's a book about Spurs called 'We are Tottenham: Voices from White Hart Lane' which is excellent, although obviously of more interest to Spurs fans than the average football follower.

It follows the miserable 2003/4 season (when Hoddle got sacked, and Arsenal won the title at the Lane), and contains sixteen chapters, each of which contains a series of in-depth inteviews with Tottenham fans from different walks of life, including a cab driver, a Geordie, a man who pioneered European away match travel in the 60s, a successful businesswoman, a hooligan, a Scandinavian, etc.

Really, really good book.

Hi Lazio. Why did the FDL disband out of interest? I think thats right anyway.

AFC#1 - March 4, 2008 10:29 AM (GMT)
Did Juve not nick their banner?

Longhurst JR - March 4, 2008 02:11 PM (GMT)
I heard they ambushed them on their way back from Europe, knife point etc. Just what I heard.

Wasn't easy to get people involved - travelling abroad by air was still rare in those days (more holidays in Southend than Costa del Sol, I'd imagine).

He claims that the players really, really appreciated it. Back then, they weren't paid the ridiculous salaries of today, and so they viewed the supporters as being just like them. So it wasn't a case of going abroad to be watch a nice game of entertaining football, it was going abroad to support the lads.

We won the cup winners cup in 1963. trout me, those were the glory days.

It's a long shot but has anybody read Adrian Chile's book about a year in a life of supporting West Brom?
I think I'm developing an unhealthy obsession with the guy, I even watch the one show, I'm male.

This is the best book...I think

about Eagles' Supporters Lazio.
