Title: Fans' Forum At Fulham Last Night
ormondroyd - February 27, 2008 03:27 PM (GMT)
It's being discussed here:
http://tfi.freeforums.org/fans-forum-last-night-t3491.htmlWent as well as we could have hoped for I think - lots of eloquent, reasonable fans and an MD shocked at the depth of bad feeling at the club.

Saw that myself. Sounds like the club might actually take note of what was said

Great stuff, lets hope an improvement is made across the board.
You have to say fair play to Fulham for organising it and for those who attended and made their points so well.

While it is credit to the club for hosting such an event, promises to review stewarding often don't result in all that much change. Ultimately, they're still insisting (at least in public) that everyone sit down and so the same conflicts will likely remain.

Interesting piece on the report of the meeting saying that the stewarding had changed at the West Ham game and things improved.
Dont know what is meant by that. I was in the West Ham (away) end and as far as I could see everyone stood for the whole of the game.
A steward did ask me to sit down, but I told he no 'no thank you'. I couldnt see any attempt to make us sit down.
It was all very orderly and a brilliant day was had, standing and supporting the mighty Irons.

Stewards in over reaction shock! It would appear that perhaps the message to "engage" with the Fulham supporters hasn't quite got through to this particular steward...

This happened in the Johnny Haynes Stand. I have a funny feeling that the fans forum only involved the discusiion of stewards in the Hammersmith End as this is where most of the flash points have occured, and the new team of stewards have been employed to work in the Hammersmith End only, whilst the old stewards still work on the other 3 stands

Yes it seems theres a slight problem at fulham, but am I the only one worried with the quote......

| Yesterday, I bought a guest with me, David, who is a Director of a large company and an incredibly placid and gentle person. He is my client and I have contracts with his company for in the region of £30k pa and I took him to this game as a thank you. He has only ever attended two football matches in his life before yesterday. |
No wonder the passion and atmosphere is going out of the game when its full of 'clients'

Yeah, cos thats probably never happened at Chelsea....

I didn't say it didn't, and we probably have the most, i'm just saying its a complete joke and shows how football is going down

JT, think you're being a bit harsh there. The woman concerned is a long time Fulham supporter and if a client has expressed an interest in going to a game, why not?
Just because it may be their first experience of a game, doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to sit there in silence.
NM, thanks for the clarification of where this incident happened although you'd think that all stewards should be trained in how to handle such incidents without turning it into a situation where a woman is left so aggrieved she wants to return her ST.
