Title: Inter Milan V Liverpool
Description: Ticket Allocation
BHB - February 5, 2008 03:57 PM (GMT)
Liverpool were offered 9,000 tickets for the game.
They accepted only 4,500.
What an absolute joke.
jonboilfc - February 5, 2008 04:18 PM (GMT)
why didn't they take the 9,000?

| why didn't they take the 9,000? |
I've left my crystal ball at home, I'll reply tonight when I've had a look.
Absolutely no idea why they wouldn't take the 9,000 - unless they don't want that many over there? Too much hassle?
Going to be chaos for everyone getting tickets now. Shambles.
Tufty - February 5, 2008 05:02 PM (GMT)
How many do you think will go over?
The organisation last year was the best I have encountered on 3 visits there, the Rome situation had the police under the spotlight and it kept them in line, whilst United stewards managed it form inside.
last year we had a section up in the gods, which stopped the bombardment of coins etc from above.
Having been milan on 5 occasions to watch United, on each visit I have been stopped by Juve fans (Juve are the 2nd biggest supported team in Milan), who have dished out abuse and threats to liverpool fans and said they are never welcome in Italy. Could be interesting.
BHB - February 5, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
Which is why they maybe don't want that many over there?
Only around 3,000 of us went over to Juve in 2005. Everyone else scared off really. Only really "lads" that went. For obvious reasons.
Club probably thinking the same about Milan.
Should be interesting, as loads staying in Milan for a few days. But our main lot all went to Milan before Turin last time and no bother.
Gunner Mike - February 5, 2008 05:16 PM (GMT)
Are your tickets yet to go on sale yet? Seems late. Have had my tickets sorted for over a month now.
4500 tickets looks like you'll be up in the gods like us. How much were they charging? £31?

Not on sale yet and no information on how much they are.
Never find out any of that information from Liverpool until a few weeks before. They're pathetic with stuff like that.
Everyone books flights and hotels thinking we're getting a 9,000 allocation - then this happens. Clueless.

hibs1875 - February 5, 2008 09:01 PM (GMT)
You'll get tickets in the home ends no bother. When Celtic have been there they seemed to have twice as much fans in the ground as 'they should'.
JTsBlueArmy - February 5, 2008 09:25 PM (GMT)
We've got 1800 for Olympiakos, thats all we were offered as its a small ground. That will be split 1200 Euro Season Tickets, couple a hundred on the Official Rip Off Thomas Cook Scheme, Corporates, then probably 300 split between season ticket holders and members
BHB - February 7, 2008 03:21 PM (GMT)
Full details released this afternoon.
We've taken 4,200 tickets - what an absolute joke!!
They can't even spell Inter Milan properly on the official site.!!

You can get home end tickets from the main banks in milan (dont ask me why the banks sell them). In 99 i had a home end ticket, but got in United end with it, but last 2 times there, the security was steped up and they had proper turnstiles.

All Italian grounds had to put in electronic turnstiles after the riots in which a policeman was killed last season. Only a few grounds had them prior to last season as far as i know.
Gunner Mike - February 7, 2008 05:42 PM (GMT)
We've had to have our names and dob printed on all our tickets, being asked to make sure we have photographic ID aswell. Im sure they will be checking a few but 4500 can't see it myself.
From what i hear the police aren't so strict on the home fan entrances, could be wrong though. Strange you've been given 300 tickets less than us and annoying that you're being charged £7 less than we were

And Inter Milan have sold out the home sections, so no buying them when over there, unless buying them off touts in the street.

Don't Inter put away fans at one end?(Sud?)
& Milan put away fans at the other end?(Nord?)
Would explain allocation difference but not really price difference!
Tufty - February 8, 2008 10:29 AM (GMT)
On your train of thought, do Reading FC charge the same price as London Irish?
Do Bury charge the same as FCUM?
Inter have an opposite end that AC, so it wont be the same stand.
jrtoonarmy - February 11, 2008 02:25 PM (GMT)
4,200 thats crazy, when we played inter we took and sold 12,000 tickets it was the whole lower tier plus corners. do they not give that to away fans now?

No.
The rumous was we were offered 9,000 but only took 4,200.
The club have since come out and denied that and said they were only ever offered 4,200 tickets.
We still get the lower tier behind the goal, only half of it though.
It think they give massive allocations to visiting sides when the demand for home tickets isn't as great. But when the home ends are going to sell out, they're not just going to hand over 12,000 tickets for away fans.
Tufty - February 12, 2008 10:03 AM (GMT)
Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the San Siro still under reduced capacity following the ruling in Italy last season? (It was reduced when we played there in April).

I don't think so. Both AC and Inter have had near sellout crowds this season. (Not everyweek I may add, both there averages for this season is around the 50k mark!).
Back in April, I don't think the neccesary requirements set by the Italian Authorities had been achieved at the San Siro such as all electronic turnstiles installed and working and CCTV camera's set up etc.
