Title: Serious Shenanigans In The United Ticket Office
Description: Where will it all end...

LH_88 - February 4, 2008 03:39 PM (GMT)
Latest rumours:

500 tickets to AIG for Lyon away. 600 tickets to 'MU Travel' who are charging the measly sum of just 300 quid for a day in France. Anyone can go on MU Travel, there is no such thing as credits in previous rounds with United. Our full allocation is 2300. Great. I could only afford to go to Kiev, and understandablty, have not had a sniff of a ticket. Despite knowing a lot of other seasoned travellers.

City at Home: Some people with various contacts in the club have confirmed that the club have released all the members allocation to Corpotates for City. With it being such a desirable game to attend, members obviously don't matter.

Unsubstantiated rumours that the ticket office are also releasing tickets straight to viagogo (Official touts), rather than straight to fans.

Not to mention taking more and more tickets from our standard away allocations to give to AIG and various other sponsors. Out of 3000, I would hate to think how many of those actually get made directly available to your average fan.

Something must give?

500 to AIG out of an allocation of 2,300 for a European Away game? I find that hard to believe.

So did I. I'm sure the other United lads on here would have heard the same.

Heard about the 500 for lyon. Aparantely this lyon ballot was done a completely random ballot - everyone in together, which not how it should be.

Heard about city going to corporates.

The bit about viagogo - ive always had a feeling the club just puts tickets on their to tout.

I often check it just to see if theres any on there near me etc - in stretford tier 2 there ones on there for the exact same seat for every match - i even recognise the seat detail of it. One of them is 3106 row 40 seat 18. Some others there as well. I found it hard to believe someone would find the cash to renew a ST (knowing you've gotta to pay for all the cup games which arent gunna be sold on there) to then sell EVERY single game on viagogo, what would be the point? apart from applying for aways, which you get trout all of them anyway.

Reppz - February 4, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
all this ballot rubbish seems an absolute joke. Put em om ST only sale for one day and then general sale for the rest.

This one sticks out, Mr Townsend is reported to have refused the only blue in the press pack a "normal" seat (as the press areas is being used by guest) because it would be illegal to give to an opposition supporter.

If that is the case how can they then dish out several hundred dotted about the gaff to city suits.

And more to the point what on earth are city suits going to do with briefs for the likes of nt3?

Tufty - February 4, 2008 05:25 PM (GMT)
FACT - AIG have not been given 500 tickets for Lyon away.
The Lyon awya ballot was a trout up and didnt give any loyalty reward for anyone who has previously attended a Euro away this season, everyone was lumped in together. As with all Euro aways, Travelcare (MU travel) have a large number of tickets for their trips (still on sale and a rip off £255 for a daytrip).

members have had tickets for the City game, again another urban myth.

again false and the viagogo should have an audit trail that shows that.

On average away tickets are apprx 3,000
200-300 of the away allocation goes to players and staff.
700 go to execs who receive a max of 2 tickets each.
Three quaters of the remaining allocation goes to the loyalty pot, who have an 85% chance of getting a ticket (1,100 in LP at start of this season, it was previosuly topped up each year to 1,400).

:D :D :D

Oh how everyone wishes that was the case. Not that easy though when you've got 60,000 ST holders like United have and they can all apply for away games!

The ballot is between all ST holders. If you haven't got a ST, you don't get away tickets. It's a free for all.

At Liverpool, we have a loyalty system for ST holders, but if you haven't got a ST with at least 8 away credits on it from last season, you've got hardly any chance of away tickets this year, bar the big allocations like Wigan and Blackburn.

I can't believe that MU Travel will give tickets to anyone that books with them, regardless of previous loyalty.

So I could book with them for Lyon and get a ticket? Madness.

My mate had two tickets in the away end for the Spurs-United match on the weekend. Was a little surprised to see him there as he rarely goes to matches and I was pretty sure he wasn't a member. Asked him how he managed to get hold and he smugly told me that he'd just asked for some at work (he works for some investment bank) and got given a couple for free.

Really, really pisses me off.

Some fella we sometimes go to games with got a ticket through work for the away end at Spurs. Apparently the guy who supplied it had 275 odd. Now where are they coming from.....?

At the FA Cup Final last season we were on the Tube out to Wembley when we overheard this bloke talking on the phone saying he had 2 spare tickets. None of us had tickets so naturally enough we enquired when he was finsihed with his phone conversation. He didn't support United or Chelsea. He was a posh trouter who worked for some company in the City and he got 4 odd tickets from his company. He had a mate with him and was intending to sell his 2 spare tickets for £600 a piece.

Makes me sick to think people like that are ending up with tickets on a regular basis

You don't even have to be a member so yeah you could get one no problem if you were willing to pay the ridiculous prices they charge.

For the FA Cup Final we couldn't get any tickets from chels, but me dad got tickets through the FA (easy enough as half the bloody ground was FA tickets). We were in the block next to the start of the official chelsea end, in my block there was us 4, about another 20 chels, and 10 united fans, all the rest were just salmons who fancied a day out in london and may aswel watch a game of football aswel. So when we scored it was hilarious, about 20 people going mental with everyone just looking at us amused

Is a complete farce, but sadly its never going to get any better, if anything get worse

QUOTE (from a bloke on another United forum)

When i asked about the members being able to apply he said the only way they'll get tickets is if st holders do not apply.

A case of false advertising by United if that is so because on the website:

QUOTE

SALES TO MEMBERS:

A small allocation is available to One United Members and applications are now being accepted until 8am on Friday 8th February online or by calling the 24 hour Ticket Order Line on 0870 442 1999, Members wishing to establish if their application has been successful should telephone 0870 442 1999 from 8am on Monday 11 February.

My theory of them trying to flog some memberships now seems even more likely.

Why dont united do a loyalty system like the one we have at Man City?

Ours works on a points per away/cup game basis. You get say, 1000 pts for purchasing a season ticket from new (at least it was 1000 when the system first came into place, but I think thats gone now) and an additional 200/300 pts per renewal.

But the one that counts is away/cup games. You'll get 10 pts for a local away, 20 for a midweek or unattractive far distance away, which means people who go everywhere easily gain more and more points.

Then tickets are sold in brackets of say:

3000 pts and over - first day
2600 pts and over - third day
2200 pts and over - fifth day
Any season ticket holder - seventh day

Bar games like Man United away where the top priority level is 4000 pts, and tickets are sold before they reach 3200 pts (I just missed out on OT this season on 3150 points, yet I got one last year with only 2610 <_< ) I think this is one of the fairest systems around

I've read up on the United away ballot, loyalty pots, etc... and tbh its a feckin joke, especially when you see japanese at games like Portsmouth or Reading away? How do they get the tickets... it stinks

Too much hard work for the retards and failed students that work in the United Ticket Office.

Citeh need to reward loyal fans, because you haven't got anyone to replace them, United don't, because we have. Simple.

From touts, agents, mutravel etc.

City can offer a system like that, as they dont sell out all away games.
United have 5,000 apply for every away game.
Plus people will apply simply to get a credit.

Arent japanese allowed to won season tickets or apply for aways?

Don't be silly of course Japanese people or even people of Japanese descent CANNOT go to games, in the same way that White males need not apply to be a police officer in the South West.

One gate open tomorrow lads

http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...D&newsid=533835

Rumour abounds that lads on flights today were being asked for their tickets to be shown for the game before being let into France :ph43r:

Utd 90210 - February 20, 2008 12:19 PM (GMT)
I presume they'd only be doing ticket checks in Lyon airport if that is the case. Loads of Reds on flights to Grenoble, Geneva, Paris....etc. :ph43r:

One thing's for sure, if i had a genuine ticket i'd be at the ground for when the gates open..
