Could any body advise what the avarage crowds are for Bundesliga clubs for League games ? Like to see how they add up against Premier League clubs ?
I think Bayern avaerage the most at 65,000 but Im not too sure.

Dortmund average the most. 72000 odd. Down from 80k few years ago!
NihilBaxter - January 30, 2008 10:19 AM (GMT)
This season the average attendance so far was 39.079.
Here you'll find the attendances for every club.
The average attendance of the 2.Bundesliga is 17.773. Remarkable are the attendances of Cologne(41.001), Mönchengladbach(39.178) and 1860 Munich(36.489). All of these clubs are eager to promote to the Bundesliga this year. If they do, they will surely have an average attendance of more than 45.000.
Thus, next season might see a new record in average attendance in the Bundesliga. Furthermore, Leverkusen will expand their small stadium to 30.000 sometime next season and plan to play some games in the huge stadium in Düsseldorf.

Thanks for that pal. Crowds are huge but you probably dont get the tourist fans the big clubs like Man U get over here - loads of South Korean tourists each week. If it was left to real fans over here hardly any would pay the silly prices. German football is how it should be - football to the people

It helps when the tickets are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much cheaper and they are allowed to stand.

German footy is were it is at for me! I watched the Dortmound v Bremen game last night instad of Sunderland-B'Ham and the atmosphere and to an extend the football, pisses over anything the premierleague can throw up. Both teams taking the game to each other, both still going for it even though they are either 2-0 up or 0-2 down, end to end stuff, players not afraid to have a pop at goal from 30 yards out.
You also got some great camera shots of the stands, the whole of that 17000 terracing behind the goal bouncing at once in unison was something else. The Bremen crowd were fantastic aswell, plenty colour and you could still hear them loud and clear when getting beat.
The stand looks ideal for the away support there. 1/3 of the lower tier to the far righthand side is a standing section, the other 2 thirds in the same stand are seating sections and they were mixed fans aswell. How simple it is to give fans the choice!!!

Im gutted I dont get Setanta Sport just for the German Football. With cheap football its how it was in the late 60s and early 70s over here without the violence. I cant wait to get over there and enjoy myself .

The standing sections were segragated. The home standing section was a whole stand on its own behind the goal, the away standing section was behind the other goal which had a fence going down and along it and next to that was seating sections which had both Dortmund and Bremen fans sitting together in it. The strange thing is there didn't even seem to be a steward in the sections that had both fans mixed in it

The germans were pretty rough in there day as well.
Not trying to turn this into a football Hooliganism thread, but saying, that just because in the past there has been violence, we have to be treated this way.
purpleronnie - January 30, 2008 06:39 PM (GMT)
Germany still has far worse hooliganism than us.
jonboilfc - January 30, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
anywhere's worse compared to england

TBH I wouldn't say they are worse than England, probably on par at the most! We have a Hibs fan who moved to Germany and attends his local teams games and he said the organised hooligan scene is more underground than over here and that he has never seen any trouble with mentioning.
You'll get scenes like this with fans getting escorted but then thats normal practice all over europe.

http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/This is a good site for Euro attendances. Interestingly, BL2 is more popular than English Division 2 this season, although that is skewed a bit by the big three.

I have Setanta, am willing to pay the £10 a month and it is largely down to German football. I'll be watching Hansa V Bayern Munich tonight and if sunday is rubbish I'll watch Schalke V Stuttgart. If someone said to me they think what I want in England is to demanding all I have to say is look at Germany, exactly how it should be.
-big stadiums
-cheap tickets
-terraces
-lesser wages
-competitive league (no big 4)

I watched the first half closely and the last 15 mins, missed Hansa's goal. As much as I like the Bundesliga the standard isnt the same as England, Hansa's attack were coming to deep and they had very few chances. I think Bayern should be doing better than they are, Ribery has looked nothing special when I've seen him and Klose was non existant. I still think it is much better to watch than Italian football though, even if the quality isn't there. Good 29,000 sell out.
