Description: Semi Final, chance to play Spurs....

And they took a massive army of 2100 up to Goodison.

Pitiful, do one back to midtable obscurity you goons. Please.

Everton fans were tench.

Everton fans were tench.

With their team playing like that I'm not surprised.

Does that make up for that fact that Chelsea 'We're up there with the best support in Lahndan' FC, took a following up there with the likes of Wigan?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. IF that was Spurs, West Ham or Arse, then they would have taken 6000, there or thereabouts. It proves what I said a few weeks back, they've got a hardcore following of about 1500, end of story. So have most premiership and Championship sides.

What was the reason for Chelsea having such a poor turn out. I know they have been in X semi finals etc etc but so have Rangers, Celtic, Liverpool and Man U but they would still pack out the away ends.

The noise they made was superb though so fair play to them for that.

Don't flatter them. The gantry and mikes are right above the Chelsea fans, in the Upper Bullens.

You could have 25 lads singing and it would sound like 500.

When United were there in the FA Cup you could hardly hear Motsons inane ramblings by all accounts.

LongtonLeeds - January 24, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
Yeh the commentators mentioned that they were right above them. Werent chelsea in the lower tier then ??? i thought they were (along with some empty seats but i dont know if they were chelsea or everton seats not sold now)

Still it is rather poor :o

why do you only bring 1400 to chelsea then? as do Newcastle...

Why did you only take 2100 to Everton for a semi final then? You didn't have to pay £48 either like we have to at Chelsea. Numpty

BHB - January 24, 2008 04:18 PM (GMT)
To be fair to Chelsea, I'd go for quality of support over quantity all day long. And they did have a good vocal support there last night.

Give me 500 lads singing all game in an end than 5,000 with only a few bothered and infested with bell ends.

But it does prove a point that Chelsea will never be a massive club. They have their level and that's that.

I'm not doubting their vocal support last night but the way PaulCFC was questioning ours and Newcastle's away support last week for only taking 1500 to Chelsea when it was £48 for our fans on Boxing Day and then they take 2100 to a semi final

Fair enough.

We took 6,000 down to Chelsea for yet another cup tie against them a month or so back. We all knew we'd have a reserve side out for it, and loads of southern based reds would be going to it.

Would Chelsea ever sell out 6,000 up at Anfield on a Wednesday night in a league cup game when playing their reserves? No chance. Be lucky to get 1,500.

But that's the levels the two clubs supports are at.

There's only Liverpool and United that can sell out everywhere they go. Due to the shear number of fans we've both got around the country.

We've got a right to call everyone else ;)

But every club has its level. Chelsea have always taken similar amounts away from home.

It's the like of Newcastle that piss me off. Getting 12,000 - 16,000 every week before Wor Kev turned up. Then getting 55,000 every week now.

Most other supports remain around the same level all the time

Ok maybe the mics did amplify the Chelsea fans but to say you only heard them after they scored i'm sorry but you're lying. And that still doesn't hide the fact that you didn't sing...

FFS, who cares...

JTsBlueArmy - January 24, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
Yes it was a poor turnout and I'm not gonna try sit here and make excuses, I've never said we're on level with the likes of liverpool, arsenal or man utd.

At the end of the day I'd prefer what I had last night with 2500 proper fans giving it their all, instead of 6000 with lots of JCLs in shirts.

Reppz - January 24, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
I didnt think neither support was very good. Okay so the Chelsea fans sung quite persistantly, but the songs they sung were that pathetic it was embaressing. Every time a Chelsea player touched the ball it was just "Joe Cole, Joe Cole, Joe Cole, Joe Coleeeeee" or "Ricky Carvalho, Ricky Carvalho". Stupid. Haven't got any originality.

JTsBlueArmy - January 24, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
I've never heard that joe cole song before? Very strange

You only hear them player songs as you recognise them, and obviously the ricky song is easy, you ain't gonna recognise the songs about wayne bridge or anything

Does that one go:

'He's here, he's there, he's every facking where, Wayney Bridge'..?

Or do you just stick to 'Super, Super Wayne, Super Wayney Bridge' to avoid confusion amongst the ranks?

Lawnmower Man - January 24, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
If Chelsea had brought 6,000 then they would have won 5-0 instead of 1-0. True story.

Bit ironic coming from a cov fan....

Bit pathetic all of this. I cna understand why Blackcountry might be a bit pissed as Paul did have a rant at Villa's support the other day.

It's not like the Chelsea fans are proclaiming to have awesome support either.

You're absolutely right. When we went to Old Trafford a couple of years ago in the Carling cup we took 5,000 fans (which was bigger than our ground capacity at the time). The singers were all spread out because of stupid allocated seating and we were all sat next to people we'd never met before, including some who have never seen Barnet play in their lives!

The only songs we sang were the generic football songs (Great escape etc) because most of the people there didn't have a clue how any of our good songs went.

The atmosphere at Swindon was absolutely amazing, 10,000 times better than it was at OT and we took 640 fans to that game!

Seb - January 25, 2008 11:38 AM (GMT)
So if we don't sing, we're tenche, if we do sing, it's unoriginal, if we take loads of numbers and don't sing we're tenche, if we do sing but it's less numbers than Utd and Liverpool we're tenche. The hypocrisy of it all. Quite frankly if we sing like we did last night at every away game you can keep your 'massive' club tag I really couldn't give a toss. I don't think the fans that were there the other night could either.

I only had a pop because PaulCFC was slagging our support (and Newcastle's) last week questioning why we only take 1500 to Chelsea so i just found it rather amusing that you only took 2100 to a semi final. If he hadn't have been going on last week then i wouldn't have given a sh!t

It's all about being different.

Chelsea have got their fan culture, other clubs have got theirs.

Long may it continue.
