...in Europe but so are our trains!
Just reading 'The Sun' there and according to that rail travel in Britian is the most expensive in the EU with it costing on average £10 to travel 27 miles! For the same amount of money in Spain you can travel almost 100 miles! Also on average for £10 you cna travel 40 miles in Ireland, 60 miles in France and 385 miles in Latvia!!!
They don't make it easy for us footy fans do they!!! :o

Shows how little the authorities actually care about environmental stuff, despite all their bollocks rhetoric.
If they did, then they'd renationalise and subsidise the railways, reduce fares by about 50% and watch people pile on the trains (I certainly would, even if the service is as sh*t and the trains as run down as they are now). Instead they make you pay £10 for every thirty miles and then wring their hands asking "Why oh why must you peasants use your cars instead of public transport?"

When you think you can fly nearly 200 miles for £3 then it just goes to show how ridiculous rail prices are! Also, when you fly you are gaurenteed a seat and won't end up standing for a couple of hours like you often do on a train.

It's the exact same here in Ireland. They tell people to use trains and public transport and then they go and build loads of new motorways that make most car journeys a lot quicker than the equivelant rail journey. It's cheaper to drive aswell so most people obviously choose to drive. If they built some proper high speed railway lines then that might change things but until they do people are going to keep using their cars.
Also it's often cheaper to fly internally than use a train or bus. Again it's quicker, gaurenteed a seat....etc. so people are obviously going to choose to fly.

The STUPID advance thing gets right on my nerves as well.
Like the usual Adult Leicester to London far = £50 Quid Return
If you book 3 Months in advance you can get it for £14 Quid...Whats that all about? (In theory anyway. they usually only have about 10 seats on the first train at this price <_< )
tench country.
